Announcement   Welcome to limegreenjelly. I have been crafting and selling my own work for over 20 years. I'm a pernickety perfectionist so everything is finished to a very high standard.

I have been spinning and dyeing for 7 years and most of my work is spontaneous and unrepeatable. I think my best dyeing always happens when I don't think about it.

I try to blog here but haven't been very successful at keeping it up to date of late! http://freestylefibre.blogspot.com

I am freestylefibre on Ravelry and we also have a limegreenjelly group here:

About

colour scrumbler, spinner, weaver, stitcher, felter, knitter

Back in 2006 I was asked to help set up a knitting group in a local café. Soon after that someone was giving away fleeces on our local freecycle site. At first I thought I didn't have time to learn to spin with a small child to look after but when the fleeces were offered a second time I went to pick a few up. I then arranged a spinning lesson with a local lady and came straight home and bought my first wheel off ebay.

Within days I was mixing colours and using dyes, as someone who has been mixing paints for almost 30 years it was natural for me to start dyeing fibres. I just love playing with colour and watching colours slipping through my fingers when I'm spinning, not being entirely sure of what the finished yarn will look like until it's done.

I also joined my local branch of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and knew straight away I was on a slippery slope. After a trip to Woolfest in 2007 I bought my first rigid heddle loom. Mixing colours through cloth is just as exciting as mixing colours on fibres and yarns. The combinations are as endless as all the shades you can ever imagine! There just aren't enough hours in the day to fit it all in but I do try to squeeze as much dyeing, spinning, weaving and knitting in as possible.

I trained in design, but colour has always been my thing, it's instinctive. I returned to knitting in 2006 after a short break and soon learnt to spin, bought a wheel and within days was experimenting with dyes, it was just a natural progression.
