Hello.
I'm Lindsey Kaye.

I've been crafting jewelry and little dishes from enameled copper since childhood, and I am delighted to be sharing them with you!

Each piece is unique and individually made. The heat of the kiln creates beautiful variations, reinforcing the love of handmade.
I'm not currently creating new custom requests because I'm pregnant :D While I'm excited about this new joy in my life, it means I have to put working with my enamels on hold for a while as most of my supplies are leaded.
I have many, many items created and available to list though, so if you have something in mind just let me know and I may have just the thing waiting here for you!

Your purchases will come sweetly packaged in recycled materials, ready for gift-giving.
(even if you give it to yourself)
Extra special gift-wrapping available upon request at no charge.

I got this necklace for a very special occasion - a Bat Mitzvah. The young lady who received it was thrilled! The craftsmanship was beautiful and I know it will be cherished for a long time. Thank you Linsdey Kaye!

What is copper enameling?
In simple terms, it's glass on metal.

The process starts with copper or silver sheeting, stamped shapes, or spun forms. Metal is scrubbed and fired and scrubbed again until shiny and clean and perfect. Each piece is then coated in fine powdered enamel, layer on layer. Inside a kiln at 1500 Fahrenheit it sublimates. In just a few minutes what was once like sand is now permanently fused to its base; strong, smooth and shining.
The piece is fired over and over. With each addition of color or embellishment, each painting or sifting of designs and each swirl of molten enamel it must be fired, cooled and cleaned once more.
The final result is well worth the process.

Each piece you see in my shop is individually created and thanks to the fickle nature of the kiln, no two will ever be exactly the same.
My jewelry is always counter-enameled (enameled on the back) for durability, comfort and aesthetics. I may choose to leave edges oxidized black or polish them to shiny metal depending on the individual item.
Little dishes or home items may be counter-enameled or have a polished metal backing.

Most items are individually created and listed, what you see is exactly what you'll get. Other items of simple design may be fired-to-order and will be similar to the example photo, with unique

All requests for exchange must be submitted within 5 days of receipt as stated on the delivery confirmation. I have no time restrictions on repair requests.
Additional policies and FAQs
Enameled metal is strong but is still essentially glass. If dropped or handled roughly, the glass may chip or crack - even shatter altogether.

To care for your piece, wipe with a damp cloth as needed. Edges and backings that are polished metal can be cleaned with mild detergents or polishes. Abrasive scrubbing materials or chemicals should never be used on the enamel or metal.

All of my enamels are lead-free, but items are not intended for food contact surfaces.
