Very distinctive, lovely, yet neutral enough in color to wear with almost anything. Great purchase.
Illustrative paintings and handmade jewelry.
After graduating from Mass Art in '07 with a degree in Illustration, I wasn't really sure what to do with my work, but I just knew I had to create! I started thinking about different methods of displaying my illustrations, to bring a little more interest to other areas of our spaces.
I discovered these small tabletop photo frames, and I started making small paintings on canvas paper to insert into them. I loved painting within such an intimate size, it adds a fun pop and easily adds to any space, and it enabled me to make my work more accessible to people.
I started making jewelry recently, and as a self-professed jewelry junkie obsessed with creating, things quickly progressed into multiple collections. My jewelry has a glamorous gypsy style, and I love sparkly, juicy-colored jewels and using natural materials. The ultimate connection between my love for painting and jewelry are the painted rings and earrings. It's wearable art!
The meaning behind the shop name represents the juxtaposition of my subjects. It is both pretty and sometimes a little gross. I enjoy seeing the beauty in the decay. I have always had an addiction to lipgloss, which is very sweet, and a fruity contrast to this is a tart lemon. I'm a bit of a fruitcake!
I want to create fun, easily accessible pieces, as well as unique wearable art. I hope my work inspires people to enjoy the everyday, as well as the unusual aspects of life.
