About

Making stuff since 1980 something...

I was born into a household of art so I have been doing some form of art since I was old enough to hold a crayon. Thanks to my mom and dad who have exposed me to all different types of art; from felt, glue and googly eyes to paints, wood carving, wood burning, leather work, glass etching, pastels, and pencil. I will try anything! I am not saying I have mastered all of the above but I love to learn and experiment.

For years I have been making things and giving them as gifts. Many times I was told that I should be selling my art but I never really had the desire. I was to busy. Then all three of my kids started school and I finally saw an opportunity to test the waters. I began by hand painting custom Christmas Ornaments. I did much better than expected but that only lasts for a season. So I had to brainstorm... I went to my favorite craft store to walk around looking for inspiration. I was thinking about metal stamping and as I looked at the stamps it reminded me of the leather work my dad used to do and the bracelets we used to make at church camp. The light bulb went off and I was ready!! I bought the stamps and leather and thankfully my dad was willing to part with his leather tools. I began by making some bracelets for senior gifts. Then I sold a few orders through my facebook page, mainly friends who thought the bracelets would make great Christmas gifts. It was such a success that I decided to open this Etsy shop!

I care about the work I do. Each bracelet is hand stamped letter by letter or hand engraved, by design, with a hand tool. I do not use a machine to stamp. This is an art form not an assembly line. Because of this each piece is unique. I do use pre-sized leather bands because this helps to keep a uniform size. The bands are unfinished so I am able to dye them based on your choice of light, medium, or dark brown. I love what I do and I hope it shows in the product you receive. Thank you for taking time to visit and learn more about my shop and my creative process!
