5 out of 5 starsI've been a customer of Lisa's for years and years. These earrings are even more gorgeous IRL. The labradorite is a phenomenal touch. As always I will be returning. One of the best shops on Etsy. Cheers!

5 out of 5 starsBeautiful! I absolutely LOVE these! They surpass all my hoops now in terms of size, weight, quality, uniqueness and craftsmanship. I have been wearing these every day since receiving them (which was about a week ago) and I think they are going to become my staple earrings.

About LisaFlanders
Lisa Flanders Studio
I grew up just outside of Boston and attended Boston University. After then spending almost 30 years in Florida, I returned home to New England in 2007 and now live in beautiful rural Vermont. My jewelry adventure began in 1989 in Gainesville with a chance meeting with master jeweler Richard Beardsley that was to become a turning point in my life. It was the first time I had ever seen true "art jewelry" and I was amazed by Dick's extraordinary creativity and by his metalsmithing skills, and I knew at that moment that I wanted to learn to make jewelry myself. Though he didn't teach, the next moment of kismet came a few weeks later, when the wrong mail was accidentally delivered to my mailbox. In it there was a brochure for art classes at the University of Florida's Reitz Union, including a metalsmithing class given by jeweler Lucinda Moran. Her description deeply resonated with me, and I knew that this was the person I wanted to learn from. In her class I learned the basics of working with metal and gemstones, and have been self-taught since then. While in Florida, I had the privilege of being a juried member of the Gainesville Artisans' Guild, the second-oldest artists' cooperative in the country, and here in New England, I am a juried member of the venerable League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. I design and create my handmade artisan jewelry in my sunny home studio, using traditional metalsmithing fabrication techniques to texture, form, forge, solder, set stones and finish my work. My jewelry combines earthy, organic, handwrought shapes and textures, colorful natural gemstones, primitive tribal beads and rustic vintage and found objects, hearkening back to a simpler time in our complex human journey.

KNOW YOUR BODY CHEMISTRY
Different people's body chemistry reacts differently to cuprous metals. While copper is a pure elemental metal, it can react with the skin of people with an acidic body chemistry to cause green "copper salts." This is natural and completely harmless and can be easily washed off.
When purchasing jewelry, such as cuff bracelets, in which cuprous metals come in direct contact with the skin, you are responsible to know your own body chemistry prior to ordering.
A NOTE ON THE USE OF ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS IN MY WORK
I was an ethical vegetarian for 40 years before going completely vegan 4 years ago. I do not purchase new items containing bone, horn, pearls, shell, leather or silk for use in my work. I will, however, sometimes salvage vintage pieces containing these materials from flea markets, thrift stores and yard sales. The current status of my evolving beliefs on this issue is that, in the case of a 1960's bone necklace for example, the soul is long gone and all that remains a half a century later are the material elements. So I use these materials with respect and with the intent of creating cruelty-free jewelry.
