About

Heck of a lot better than Candy Crush.

Let me be honest. I was disgusted with the amount of time I was spending on Candy Crush and Hay Day. Hours a day. I finally asked myself, Why? What did I really get out of completing that boat order? I realized that instead of building a virtual farm for no apparent reason, I could be building the Etsy store that I have been wanting to build for years.

So here it is.

Like most artists, I started in drawing and painting, but when I was in high school my Grandpa taught me silver work and lapidary. I have been hooked on three dimensional art ever since. I received my BFA from the University of Utah with an emphasis in painting, and metal sculpture, but I did not do clay in college. In 1996, I took a little community education pottery class, and I never looked back. I have been selling my pottery and fused glass at various galleries for about 10 years. I am looking forward to being the one who chooses the art to be shown. Exciting.

I enjoy experimenting with new ideas and adding new methods to my artistic madness. My current obsession is with crystalline glazes. I am approaching this glaze differently than most people. Instead of looking for big crystal flowers on a gloss background, I use the way these glazes run to make them mix and flow with other glazes. The resulting rain and swirls of color mesmerize me. There is nothing more exciting than opening the kiln. It's like Christmas!

I have always been an artist. While getting my BFA at the University of Utah, I chickened out of trying to earn a living in art and went on to Law School instead. 20 years later, I enjoy my legal work, but it is stressful. Art is my sanity.

Frequently asked questions

Can you do custom orders?

If you see an item you like and a glaze you like in my shop, I can usually make that item in the chosen glaze. However, my glazes are fussy, and regularly stop working without warning. I never guaruntee that I can complete a custom order, but I am always happy to give it a try. Such requests take approximately 4 weeks before I have a photo of the piece ready for a listing.
