Hand Dyed Yarns and Custom Crochet

My name is Kayleen, and I am a fiber artist local to the North Shore of Boston.

I've been crocheting for nearly 20 years, and have recently begun my journey in knitting and handspinning yarns. I find inspiration all around me - whether from my family, friends or other fiber artists in this community. I began hand dyeing yarns to bring that creative inspiration to other fiber artists, and to expand my artistic palette.

I am most active on social media through instagram (@littlebeancrochet), and have a Facebook page as well. Most shop updates and information are channeled through those sites. I also do a weekly YouTube podcast (Littlebean and Me) to take you with me on my fiber-related and crafting ventures - and to show you the yarn I will be putting in my shop each week.

If you have questions for me, my inbox is always open. Please feel free to message me anytime. :) As always, all items are crafted in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.

    Frequently asked questions

    Sizing details

Any details on sizing of crafted items will be placed in the "item details" section. Typically I size for the average appropriate size on a piece (meaning, for example, a newborn hat is about 13.5" in circumference...etc). if you have a custom size that is required (that is not in a listing), please inbox me and let me know. If you're ordering a piece of clothing that is listed and need custom measurements - please include also in a "note to seller." i am happy to adjust to the best of my abilities!

    Care instructions

Most items in the shop are a "Machine wash warm, Tumble dry Low" Care-type item. I like to use the "easy care" type materials - like cottons, acrylics, superwash wools - to help make care on your end a snap! However, I also use regular wool or other animal fiber that may be hand wash only.

Crochet work and knit work can also be delicate. If you're ordering or working on something lacey - or with a lot of intricate stitch-work, I may recommend hand-washing only. Handwashing is gentle and will ensure that the piece that you've purchased or made will stand the test of time!

    Gift wrapping and packaging

I can gift wrap or special-package an item if needed. If you require this, please place in a "note to seller." I am happy to do this for you free of charge.

Do you carry any non-superwash yarns or fiber?

At this time, my base selection is limited as above. I try to carry a variety of bases to accommodate all fiber artists, and am always adding new and interesting yarns for your stitching pleasure.

As far as dyeing colorways on fiber, I am currently working on a source for fiber that is ethically sourced, and will update as more information is available.

Is the yarn you source cruelty-free?

The wholesale distributor I use for my bases is anti-mulesing, and to the best of my knowledge (from speaking with them), source from farms who raise their livestock ethically. The Merino wool is sourced from small family farms in South America - where mulesing is not practiced.
