"An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." -G.K. Chesterton

Kids lack the inconvenience of being sensible. At five years old, there wasn't a whole lot I knew for sure about what my grown-up life would be like. Two things were certain for me, however.

One: when I grew up, I would have an awesome dog who would have all the qualities of my childhood mutt, Poco. By happenstance, the starving pup who showed up on my porch one frigid day 10 years ago turned out to be a lot like Poco. She is whimsical and free of self-criticism or doubt. Far from perfectly behaved, still she is good and unshakably faithful.

Two: I would obviously grow up to be an artist. As that little kid, it never occurred to me that I might not. Especially foriegn was the notion that it might not be possible. This belief I regarded as such a given later became a luxury lost when I grew up and “had to get real”. Oh, the inconveniences of adulthood!

But when other inconveniences (like dropping out of college for a major surgery) and uncertainties (all those do I really want to spend my life on this? reality checks) veered me off course from my “grown-up” goals, life circled back. After too many years of allowing my inner critic to stop me, I decided to throw myself into a new adventure: life as a full time artist. With a little perspective gained, I learned again how to create with peace and joy as my guide, rather than that perfectionist critic within me. Needle felting has become an outward expression for me of the child-like quality of creating for joy rather than accomplishment.

Little Bea Studio is named for my beloved dog-- that once tiny stray puppy that showed up on my porch. She is inspiration and partner to me now, and has been by my side since the time she showed up as just a pair of giant ears, pokey ribs and a relentless spirit. So much like the reawakening of my own spirit over the years-- of that whimsical but confident artist within. What an unexpected gift and teacher she's been.

Perhaps I haven't learned so much so far in life. Perhaps not as much as I should have, but one thing I am learning daily is that art has the potential to bring more hope and healing to the world than I ever recognized. It is a mystical quality, and one I never doubted any animal to have, as I have seen lives put back together with the help of a gentle cat, a patient horse, or even a mangy rez dog...

My art is an articulation of the human-animal bond. The careful and thorough dedication that goes into each pet portrait, each miniature dog or cat or llama or giraffe, is to honor the animals we love and to celebrate what animals bring to our lives. My work is also a celebration of the diversions that lead us to where we are meant to be. It is a thankful recognition of the smallest most unexpected things that show up and somehow bring about love and healing to us.

Thanks so much for stopping by. And to all of you who support me and Little Bea Studio, I am so grateful and honored. May your inconveniences be beautiful adventures in disguise, as mine have been.

Additional policies and FAQs
I love creating custom pieces. If you are interested in custom artwork, please take a good look at my shop as well as my website:
I enjoy working directly with my customers to create custom pieces they are truly happy with. However, all of my work is original, and I will not reproduce another artist's design, style, etc. I also cannot reproduce work identical to pieces I have made in the past, as each sculpture is unique. That said, I would love to make you something similar if you see a piece you like that is unavailable.

All "ready to ship" pieces in my shop are finished work. In most cases, these pieces will not be customized, changed, or reworked in any way either before or after purchase. Exceptions may be made in certain circumstances, like adding a simple collar to a dog sculpture, etc. Please know that if I do choose to make changes to finished pieces upon your requests, there will be an additional charge. This policy allows me to keep my prices more reasonable, as a great deal time and communication can go into minor alterations. It also allows me to create finished artwork within my own artistic vision and freedom.

I truly put my heart, vision, and prayer into every piece in my shop. Please know that I will do my very best to honor you with the work I do and the way I handle my business. Thank you for your support, and thank you for visiting my shop!
