Note: Due to relocating countries I had to close my store at http://etsy.com/shop/littleblacklace. Welcome to my new store!
I've always loved crafting. First crafty experience I can recall was sewing buttons to a piece of some plastic foil. I must say from my current point of view it sounds pretty avant-garde. My mom wasn't really pleased with my newly acquired skill as I was always loosing needles around me and then it wasn't necessarily fun to step on them.
Years were passing by and I discovered many more interesting techniques - knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, ikebana, scrapbooking... And then I stumbled upon some patterns found on the web - they didn't look like any patterns I knew already. It turned out these were tatting patterns.
I started learning a new skill - old books and youtube videos came in handy. I absolutely love shuttle tatting - the lace that you can make is so versatile! It doesn't need to be always romantic or victorian - I'm able to create geometric minimalist jewelry or heavy gothic accessories. I use variety of threads, beads, semi-precious stones and findings to achieve the desired style.
Since I opened my store on Etsy I share my passion with the whole world - I get orders from big cities in USA and small villages in Norway or Greece. For those who want to learn tatting I offer some of my patterns in digital form.
