About

Traditional quilts meet modern style

My love of crafting began early in life. One of my teachers taught me to crochet in third grade, and my memories of that school year is full of long crochet chains and loops.
When I was around 13 years old, I found scrapbooking, and I spent a few years cutting up photos and gluing them on acid-free pages with stickers and embellishments. Then I found cross-stitch which I loved, (and still love!) for it's portability, bright, modern patterns.
I have a distinct memory of sleeping over at my cousin's house when I was young, and her mom gave us boxes of scrap fabric to make a patchwork quilt. We spent hours sorting the fabric and cutting squares from a template. I don't think I ever sewed any of those squares together, but that was my introduction to quilting.
My dad bought my first sewing machine for me when I was a teenager--a light blue Kenmore Mini-Ultra. I made my first three quilts on that Little Blue Machine. Even though I've moved on to bigger, better machines, it seemed only fitting to name my shop after that first little guy!
I made my first quilt 8 years ago, and I've never stopped. My house is filled when them, my kids sleep under them at night, and I've given them as gifts to nearly every member of my family. I've made over 30 quilts since that first one. Last year I found the joy of making 6" and 12" blocks, and I fell in love with them. I love them because they're much faster to make, so personable, and so affordable!
Not everyone can afford to buy a full-size quilt, but nearly everyone can afford to buy a mini-size one! With so many designs and colors to choose from, I really believe there's something here for everyone. I then started to think of ways to display the little quilts, and I made my first mini quilt display board. These are great because they make it easy to switch out minis for season, holidays or even from room to room.
I've come a long way from those fabric squares I cut years ago! I am now a stay-at-home mom to two boys. Sometimes it's a challenge to find the time to create, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. My sewing room is truly my happy place, and I love going in there to create a little every day.
My patterns are usually traditional blocks that you might see in a quilt or sampler you grandma made, but with a modern spin. I like bright colors, and I rarely make anything that doesn't contain turquoise, red or navy fabric. I love that quilts are so personal, and every one is as different and unique as the person they're made for.
In addition to my 6" and 12" blocks and mini-quilts, I also make custom baby and full-size quilts. I can customize anything you see in the shop with colors just to fit your style.
Quilting is my passion, and I truly love every single thing I create. I hope I can make something that you love just as much as I do!
