Too cute! Will only use a couple times - purchased specifically for Halloween photos for my baby girl 🤗🔮❤️ but it worked out perfectly.

About

Knitting is part of who I am

As a little girl, I idolized my grandmother (and, maybe I still do). She is and was always knitting something - a sweater for the newest grandchild, a pair of mittens for my aunt's fifth grade class, or a hat for a baby in need. I was intrigued by the process of knitting and tried to teach myself how to knit based on what I saw my grandmother doing. Eventually, she sat me down when I was eight with a pair of needles and some yarn and guided my hands. My first little square was a misshapen, trapezoidal thing with many flaws. I got very frustrated in the beginning because I wanted my work to be perfect like my grandmother's. I stuck with it, and a couple years later I submitted my first 4-H knitting project - a pair of pink slippers that I gave to my little sister. It was not my best work, but I continued to take 4-H knitting projects to the fair up until my senior year of high school and even won Grand Champion a couple of years. My grandmother told me that I'd become a better knitter than her, but I still strongly protest this. She has been my greatest inspiration and supporter.

When I was twelve years old, the American Girl cardigan sweater was born and I began to sell my work. My dad found a cardigan pattern on the internet that he thought I might like, and I tried it and made some adaptations. Since then, I have made over fifty of those little cardigans some of which are in my shop now. One day, my grandmother suggested I take some of my sweaters to a local consignment shop called the Whistle Stop (which is no longer in business) and a sold a few. Word got around and mothers and grandmothers ordered doll sweaters for their daughters' and granddaughters' American Girl dolls. In graduate school, a friend suggested I try out Etsy to sell my items. I did and it has been a great place to grow my business. At first I thought I would sell a few things here and there, but my shop has done better than I expected and I'm excited to see where it will go.

Knitting is not just a means for me to earn a little extra spending money, though it is that to some extent. Knitting for me is also relaxation, a calming sensation that I run to after a hard day's work. Knitting is also a way for me to show those I love how much I care for them. Knitting baby sweaters for my friends who are expecting and providing my sisters with warm mittens gives me the greatest joy. Knitting for those I love takes precedence over those things I knit to sell because I want to keep that love and care in all of my work. I have so many ideas for new items in my head that I can hardly wait to knit them and share them with you all!
