Announcement   Welcome to my shop Little Hurricane co. I create resin and concrete jewelry from fruit, flowers and natural found objects. I am also influenced by bright colours and I love experimenting and creating new things.

I only use Eco resin that has been certified by the USDA as a bio-based product.
The raw materials going into the resins are co-products or waste products of other industrially important processes. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. Using an international standard method of radio carbon dating, we verify the renewable content of the resins so you know exactly where they come from.

I make a conscious effort to be sustainable and therefore I try to source materials and packaging that are both unique and kind to the world around us.

Wear a little bit of nature with you wherever you go. Real fern jewellery

About

How did it all start

Little hurricane co wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my son who simply refused to go to childcare a couple of years ago.
For 20 years I was an IT project manager and here I was, at home unable to return to my corporate job.  It started as a hobby which then took me on this journey where I discovered that despite what I thought I knew about myself, I do have creative skills.  I'm amazed every day to be doing what I do now and I feel lucky that I can.

I create eco resin and concrete jewellery from botanicals, flowers and natural found objects. I also love playing with colours and incorporating gold and silver leaf in my work. I only use an Eco resin that has been certified by the USDA as a bio-based product and does not have any petroleum bi products in it.
I collect most of the flowers, ferns & shells found in my jewellery. I press and dry all the botanicals myself. I create silicone moulds from pebbles and other items I use in my work. Each piece can take me between 4-7 days to make from start to finish - starting by hand-selecting flowers, casting, moulding and finally polishing.
The transparent resin transforms delicate and ephemeral natural objects into beautifully preserved, wearable art pieces.
Each piece is different and unique, as no 2 flowers in nature are alike.

I make a conscious effort to be sustainable and therefore I try to source materials and packaging that are both unique and kind to the world around us

I was a project manager in IT, turned mum, turned person dealing with crazy mini drunk people. I started out with concrete which led to resin which led to resin jewelry and so here I am. In late 2017, I started my very own business.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

So your jewelry is made of Eco Resin which is tough and durable, BUT that doesn't mean it's invincible, want to keep it in the best condition possible? Follow our top tips:
• Remove jewelry before manual labor (gardening, washing the dishes/the dog/your kids…).
• Keep away from chemicals and alcohol-based products (such as nail polish or perfume)
• Do not use antiseptic hand jell while wearing a resin ring. It will degrade the resin
• Exposure to extended amounts of strong sunlight isn’t recommended
• If required, wash your jewelry with mild soap and water, and dry it with a soft cloth.
• When not wearing, please store in a soft bag or box.

Return/Exchange

I make an effort to create jewellery that you will love & cherish. I will only send you something that I would personally be happy with.

If however you receive your jewellery and you are not satisfied with or it does not fit, please contact me immediately and return the piece within 14 days of delivery. Please be aware, you are responsible for return shipping costs.

If the jewellery is returned to me within 14 days in its original condition, I will gladly do a full refund for you minus the shipping costs.

Health and Hygiene Laws restrict the return of earrings.

If your resin jewellery breaks within 6 months, I will replace the piece for you at no cost. This is of course as long as you have followed the 'care instructions' provided

Sizing details

Ring Sizing:
Each listing will have the ring size in AU, US and UK sizes.
The most accurate way to know your ring size is to get it sized by a jeweler.
This website will also shed light on international ring sizing and assist you to determine which one you are:
http://www.ringsizes.co/

Bangle Sizing:
Make your hand into a fist. Measure with a measuring tape around the widest part of your knuckles. Compare this with the inside circumference measurement on the listing to be sure the bangle will fit over your knuckles.

Shipping

Most pieces are made to order and will take approximately 3-5 days to make. Some may be ready to ship immediately if they are in stock. I will ship your new jewellery as quickly as possible.

For most smaller items I do not use tracking to keep shipping costs down. If you would like tracking please add it as an option in the shipping upgrades.

Please be aware of your countrys' policies regarding import fees and taxes before purchasing. Some countries charge a fee before the shipment is released. Little hurricane co is not responsible for any import fees of any kind.

What metals and material do I use, are they Hypoallergenic?

I use an eco resin that doesn't have any petroleum bi products in it. Furthermore the resin seals in any metal flakes from the surface. Many of my customers like to wear my rings as an alternative to traditional metal rings and have not reported any issues

All my ear posts on my studs are titanium which is perfect for those who have sensitive skin because they are nickel free and won't provoke skin allergies. Titanium is meant to be more hypoallergenic then stainless steel as it does not contain any nickel at all. For more information on the subject check out this site:
https://www.thechaingang.com/blog/surgical-steel-vs-titanium-better/

My ear wires are either 925 sterling silver of 14kt gold filled.

What does gold filled mean?

Gold-filled jewelry is much more valuable than gold-plated. In fact, there is almost 100 percent more gold in gold-filled items than found in gold-plated items. Just as gold-plated jewelry is plated with gold, gold-filled jewelry is as well, but there is a big difference between the ways these products are made.

You won't need to worry about gold-filled jewelry tarnishing, and even if you have an allergy to certain metals, you won't have to worry about allergies from metals such as nickel.

You can't say the same about gold-plated jewelry. Gold-filled items have a much thicker layer of gold on them, and the gold is a much higher quality. In fact, it is just a step down from solid gold when it comes to quality.
