About

Creative Heroes

My name is Sarah and I was born in London, England. We moved out to the country when I was young, to a small-holding with some livestock & a huge vegetable garden. It was here that I spent much of my childhood, lost in thought amongst the chickens and the runner-beans. As a result I list goat-milking as one of my core skills & I can still leap a 4ft fence in a single bound (well almost).

Those years spawned in me an appreciation for thrifty re-use in all its forms & an understanding that each task had its product and its remnants. The key was to waste nothing, but instead to feed everything back into the process. Everything had its value.

The ‘make-do & mend’ mentality of the British is possibly genetic I think, and seemed to pass down from mother to daughter in our family. Throughout my formative years I was regaled with countless stories of thrifty-creative-genius, stretching back to my great grandmother and beyond. These women were my creative heroes as a child & their exploits and ingenuity as compelling as any fictional crusader. I was never left in any doubt that I too would be a maker and a do-er.

After studying Fine Art & photography, receiving a degree in furniture design and working as an Interior designer, I eventually became a mother myself to two beautiful girls. This reignited a sense that we are all part of an inescapable creative tradition, one that I wanted to engage with and actively pass on. Life had become cluttered and noisy, full of tiring distractions and unnecessary commitments...... I wanted to make something again, something that had a story, something that made people smile.

Etsy is the place that makes those things possible for me. It gives us all an opportunity to connect and, if we're lucky, become Creative Heroes for ourselves.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by :)

Shop policies

TheRemakerie embodies everything that is unexpectedly simple. beautiful & fun about being a creative mummy with very little time on her hands :0)))))))

Most shop items are made to order. Please allow up to 3 weeks for your order to be made and shipped. It is advisable that you convo me to check making and shipping times and quotes where ever possible. Unfortunately I am not currently able to work on the shop full time so I very much appreciate your patience in allowing me to complete orders around my other commitments.

Custom orders are very welcome but can take 3-6wks or longer depending on my current work load or the nature and complexity of the order.

Everything is made here in my home studio and I have full copywrite over all designs available in my shop. Just convo me with your requirements and I will get straight back to you to confirm details and pricing.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Paypal is my prefered method of payment. Cleared funds must be received before goods are shipped. As most items are MTO I would ask that any cancellations are made within 24hrs of placing your order or a 50% cancellation fee will apply.
Shipping
Large parcels are sent 2nd class standard post, small packets and envelopes 1st class standard post. If you need an item faster please just convo me for a quote and a bespoke listing. I post out twice a week as standard although during busy periods (eg the run up to Christmas) I do post daily. Please allow ample time when placing your order as many items are MTO and holiday posting can be unpredictable!!!!

Where ever possible I will obtain proof of posting so please let me know as soon as you have received your item and you are happy with it via the Feedback pages. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please just contact me and I will do my very best to resolve it for you as soon as possible. Returns are at the customers expense unless the item is faulty.
Refunds and Exchanges
I am very keen that all my customers are happy with their purchases. I will do my very best to ensure you are completely satisfied with your order. All I ask is that any issue be raised with me within 48hrs of receiving your parcel.

As a rule I cannot refund custom orders. Any deposits requested are also non-refundable. If you do not receive your parcel through the post as expected please let me know ASAP that you are concerned so that we can begin the investigation process. If a parcel is returned to me because delivery with the customer failed then the customer is responsible for any additional costs incurred either with the return or the subsequent re-delivery. 'LOST' items have to be left a standard number of days (depending on the carrier) before any claim or compensation process can be instigated. Please be patient if there is a problem. I am just as keen to resolve it as you :) Unfortunately I can't take responsibility for items lost by the postal service. Please contact me if you think there might be a problem so we can discuss.
Thank you!
Additional policies and FAQs
