My company is called A Little Over the Top because frankly, I like things that most people consider "over the top".

I believe in being a lady, in the handmade, in the unique, and in the inspired. All my items are inspired by something specific that has touched me, be it nature or a veil I see in a vintage magazine. I believe that all women should have something to wear that makes them feel beautiful and adds a touch of femininity. I put my heart into every item that I design. I hope you feel that the final results are adornments that are as beautiful, natural, and unique as you.

I serve local customers from my boutique in the Boise, ID area.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CARE AND STORAGE:

Fabric Flower Headpieces: Please do not get wet. Keep away from high humidity and from direct, bright light(if hand-dyed). My products are not washable. Do not set things on top of your flowers, this can cause wrinkles and misshape them. Please handle the piece with care. If you notice dust on your item (if stored properly, you shouldn’t) you may use tape to gently dab the area until the dust is removed. Store in the box you received upon purchase or another spacious, covered box. If you are storing as a keepsake, you may want to purchase acid-free paper and an acid-free box for storage, similar to products used for storing wedding gowns.

Feather and Flower Headpieces: Feathers are very delicate. If the feathers in your piece get ruffled, gently brush or stroke them with your fingers to zip the filaments back together. Store in the box you received upon purchase or another spacious, covered box. You may want to store it with moth balls (not my preference) or a natural moth-repellant sachet (what I use, smells so much better) as moths may attack feathers the same way they attack wool. Please avoid spraying your feather headpiece with hairspray.

Veils: If your veil becomes wrinkled, it may be steamed to release the wrinkles. If you take long, hot showers, hanging your veil in your bathroom with the door closed and fan off may release the wrinkles. If you cannot steam it, you may iron on the lowest setting very lightly and carefully, as high temperatures can damage delicate veiling. You can mist with water and blow dry on a low setting carefully.

INFORMATION REGARDING MY DESIGNS AND COMPONENTS

Flowers: Almost all the flowers used in my designs are completely handmade from high quality fabric, feathers and natural materials. I do not use pre-made stamped components. I occasionally use small vintage flowers and high quality millinery flowers. If you have concerns regarding what will be used in your piece, please be sure to enquire before purchase. I use new stamens, vintage stamens, handmade stamens, vintage brooches, vintage buttons, feathers, beads, glass seed beads, freshwater pearls, crystals, Swarovski crystals, shells, gold and anti-tarnish silver-plated wire, brass wire, gold and silver-plated wire findings and other natural materials (pinecones, dried flowers, etc.) for the center of my flowers and in my designs.

Fabrics: I use fine quality silk, cotton, linen, some polyester (only material I’ve found that produces a true, stark, bright white), silk velvet, bridal illusion, tulle, Russian veiling, English net, various laces and more.

Feathers: I use goose, duck, rooster, pheasant, guinea, swan, ostrich and pigeon feathers. Feathers not purchased through commercial contacts are hand-washed and dried.

Backings: I use gold and silver-plated combs of various sizes, alligator clips, French barrettes, gold and silver-plated bobby and u-shaped hairpins, anti-tarnish silver wire, gold wire, snap clips, shoe clips, pin backs(for a brooch) and a round pin back that is a combination alligator clip and pin back.
