We offer clothing (much of which is organic!) with versatility and purpose, comfortable and flexible for yoga, hiking, or your general adventuring, but stylish enough to dress up for a fun night out! Inspired by nature, outdoor adventures, and comfort. Little Owl is a small boutique style store which also offers other handmade creations such jewelry, totes and fiber art! Everything is handmade at Little Owl Arts' in-home studio. All things made with love.

My goal as an artist is to reflect and represent what I love around me and that which brings me unlimited joy. Make every day an adventure!

The work in this shop is inspired by the environment, nature around me. I love beauty. Both being surrounded by it and making things that are beautiful seem to be a focus in my ever evolving work. I like natural elements, organic, textural materials, found objects, etc.. I live in a coastal fishing town, so the sea is always present in my mind, my inspiration, my motivation and my work. However, I also love the woods. Living between the woods and the shore lends a uniqueness and a collaboration to the style in which I am inspired to create. I am a maker of many things, my hands and mind are always busy, crafting with care.

The Nature Of Little Owl...

I have always been a collector of natural things: rocks, feathers, flowers, seaglass, shells, abandoned nests, all things created by nature. I look at it as nature giving me a gift. These things I collected inspire my art.

I prefer to work with natural mediums, plant dyes, paper, fiber, metal, stones... I have long studied herbalism (using plants as medicine) and incorporating this into my artwork. For years I worked at a health food store as an herbalist and used to offer classes in my old house. I love to teach people to be creative and to be a part of their own healing. This skill is woven into my lifestyle and is a direct influence seen in my artwork. I am passionate about creating things that are both beautiful and have a function. I love to learn new skills and I hope I never run out of new things to learn! This is a way for me to share my joy with you!

My work originally started with making jewelry and herbal products, then included fiber art where I created crocheted stone and crystal necklaces, needle felted creatures and nuno felted scarves. You can find these types of work still in my shop from time to time. But in late summer of 2013 I began dyeing clothing with natural plant dyes and screen printing as a way to bring my drawings and paintings into my shop and that is now mostly where I focus my creative energy. My designs are all nature based, as I am eternally inspired by the natural world around me, both near and far. I focus on using non-toxic inks and try to find the best quality garments to print on, both in comfort for the people wearing them and in responsibility for the environment.

I love my work, I love making things, I want to continue doing this and to grow my craft(s). I want to be surrounded by nature, animals and good people, and live in a quiet, peaceful, beautiful place, always.
