About

Original abstract screenprints made with passion and dedication, perfect for any interior.

I’m a full time printmaker, living and working in the picturesque Yorkshire countryside, which is where the inspiration for much of my work stems.
I have been making original prints for over fifteen years and gained an MA in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art.
Over the years I have won several awards, exhibited throughout the UK and Europe including the Royal Academy, and worked on projects with clients all over the world.
I have never been busier, happier, or more inspired!

'Emma's unwavering commitment to the art of silkscreen printmaking has resulted in a fine-tuned ability to produce countless artistic successes.'

'Thank you for my lovely prints! They’re so great - that rare thing… they look even better in real life than on the screen! You are so, so super talented.' Esther Walker

'Emma's creations are tapping in to an area of calming beauty through the harmony of shape and colour, where the work she has created is immediate and simplicity is everything'

'We love Emma’s gorgeous sense of colour and shape, and her simple design aesthetic. Emma’s work adds a great pop of colour to any space.’

A p p r o a c h
My expertise and knowledge of printmaking spans over 20 years. Each piece of work is hand printed, sometimes in up to 15 colours using traditional techniques. This is a very labour intensive process requiring each colour to be printed individually, left to dry and then the next layer of colour printed. Some of the prints are finished with pencil or conte crayon. I make my editions very small, so you are buying something unique and special.

I use only the finest handmade paper from Italy, and once the last colour has been applied, I press the prints between acid free tissue paper and boards to flatten perfectly. I have always used this precise and methodical approach because quality is of the utmost importance to me.
I believe in ethical production, which is why I print using only water-based inks, and use recycled packaging.

I have been selected to exhibit at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition 2016. This is the third time in four years that I have had my screenprints selected. It's a great honour to be included and I hope some of you get the chance to see this wonderful show.

My work has appeared in many magazines; 'Country Living','Vogue', 'House and Gardens', 'Art Review', '25 Beautiful Homes' to name a few . I even have work on film and television sets in America, most recently MAD MEN!
.........................................................................................................................
ETSY selected me to exhibit last September at TENT LONDON, part of the London Design Festival 'Four Corners of Craft' exhibition.
.........................................................................................................................
'Stone Pen' won the printmakers award at The New Light Art prize. The exhibition started this September at the Bowes Museum, County Durham, moving on to the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate and finally on to the Panter and Hall gallery on Pall Mall in London.

Shipping
UK & INTERNATIONAL
To keep costs down for customers, deliveries are sent by standard mail / airmail , this is non trackable and carries no insurance but is far more cost effective and has always been very reliable. I can arrange a tracked, insured option and will confirm the shipping charge if you contact me to request this. For any large or expensive order I would recommend you pay for this option.

UK
Parcels are sent out through Royal Mail first class.
Usual delivery times are 1 - 2 days for the UK. Orders are sent out within 24 - 48 hours, I will always contact you to let you know your order has been dispatched.

INTERNATIONAL
International orders are sent out via standard airmail. Orders are sent out within 24 - 48 hours, I will always contact you to let you know your order has been dispatched.
Deliveries usually take between 1 - 3 weeks.

Any customs tax due on items sent internationally are to be paid by the customer.

GENERAL COMMENTS
Large prints are sent carefully rolled in tissue paper and bubble wrap before being slotted in a wide sturdy tube. Framers are quite happy to work with rolled items, but be careful as fine art prints are on papers that need extra special care when handling. Try to hold corner to corner to avoid kinking.
I wouldn't recommend leaving rolled artwork in the tube for weeks after purchase, this makes it harder to un-roll.
Smaller prints wrapped with cellophane and backed onto card. They are sent carefully packaged between seven layers of sturdy corrugated cardboard.

All delivery times are approximate.
Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS
I hope that you will be happy with your purchase. Due to the delicate nature of my work I cannot accept returns on rolled artwork.
If you would like to return smaller flat prints for any reason, please contact me first so I can help advise you for the safest return without damage, and explain customs charges.
To help you make your choices when buying work I try to photograph my work as accurately as possible. However, if you would like further photographs taking to help you decide on a selection of prints, or an extra close up shot, please just send me a message.

DAMAGE & REFUNDS
If a parcel arrives damaged and damage has occured to the work inside please let me know immediately upon receipt. I will advise accordingly.
Please note: I cannot be held responsible for work damaged once opened and under the customers care.

LOST PARCELS
Royal Mail is a reliable service and hopefully orders won't go astray, (so far only three in four years.)
Please be aware that parcels are coming from the UK so please be patient! For international customers, please contact me after four weeks if your parcel hasn't arrived, sometimes parcels can get held up at customs.

Many Thanks
Emma

FRAMES
The frames in my pictures are ‘box frames’. The method is to keep the print away from the glass so it doesn't touch it, a conservation technique. Basically it does the same as mount/matt board, by keeping the paper away from being right up against the glass.

The frame itself has a fillet of wood (usually painted) inserted around the edge of the frame between the glass and the back of the frame, and it creates a 'box'. I use a painted fillet of wood the same colour as the mount board behind the print, see the photographs. (Sometimes I have asked the framer to use foamboard if I want a smaller depth.)

The print is attached to mount board, using conservation tape to stop yellowing over time.

I would get some quotes from a couple of framers as the price can vary quite substantially.
I leave a boarder around the print of 30mm, about an inch, but this is personal choice.

The moulding I use is solid ash (nice and light in colour and doesn't have huge variations in knots etc) the size is 15mm x 30mm. 30mm is the depth of the wood. White/grey painted wood also looks good.

SHOP BOUGHT FRAMES
Try Ikea or habitat online for the biggest selection of sizes. I would buy bigger to allow for some space around the paper.

EXPRESS SHIPPING
If anyone needs express shipping on an order or would like insured shipping, please e-mail me for prices.

WHOLESALE
I'm sorry but I don't do wholesale.
