Our Story
Littlewings Designs is a handcrafted accessory line dedicated to small production, artisan details, and timeless quality. We believe that form and function can and should mutually coexist in pleasant harmony, and strive for this design ideal in our work. By utilizing the best craftsmanship and quality natural materials, we are making goods that mature with age and last a lifetime.
We strive to minimize waste and reduce our impact on the planet by utilizing long-lasting materials and working on a small-scale production basis. Some items- wallets, catch-alls, and cuffs, for a few examples- are best produced in small batches. Other items, such as the handbags and shoes, are primarily made-to-order. We practice our craft in this manner to give each order the individual attention it deserves, cut our materials with minimal waste, and work as efficiently as possible.
My name is Elyse Marie, and I'm the owner and designer behind Littlewings Designs. I'm a born and raised Michigander, a child of the Great Lakes, forest adventures, handcrafted traditions, and living small. Artisan craft is my life passion- I have been sewing since I was seven years old, and growing up pursued art in all mediums before landing at the Savannah College of Art and Design . My love for the handcrafted process and belief in quality products led me to major in Accessory Design. Upon graduating in 2010, I launched my line Littlewings Designs and returned home to Grand Rapids, Michigan. In staying local and putting down roots in my hometown, I am honored to be revitalizing our local craft tradition and forging a trail with my fellow creatives for a life of honest labor and artful living.
Littlewings Designs is half of the handcrafted leather studio + gift shop called Gemini Handmade, based in Grand Rapids, MI. Founded by Elyse in 2013 originally as "Parliament the Boutique," as a studio + storefront for Littlewings Designs, the vision has grown and now is co-owned with her husband, Jacob Vroon of Harbinger Leather Design. Both born under the sign of Gemini, two days apart in the same hospital, Elyse met her husband as friendly competing leather-workers in West Michigan. Now married for over three years, they combine their skills, machinery and resources to create a crossroads for makers and clients, share ideas, and joyfully invest in one another's mutual success.

Returns and exchange details
Once an item is shipped, it is considered by littlewings designs to be delivered. The buyer may purchase additional insurance for their item if desired; please contact me and I will happily make a custom invoice for you. Otherwise, items lost in the mail after initial shipping are the responsibility of the buyer.
Custom item and wholesale order sales concerns are dealt with on a case by case basis. Please contact me with your concerns and we will try to come to an amenable solution as quickly as possible.
Payment
Shipping
We are now offering international shipping. International shipping prices vary by country, and our most common destinations have individual prices listed. These are generally sent First Class Parcel Post via USPS, and take 2-4 weeks to arrive. Please allow for this in your ordering.
Shipping prices also include handling at LWD. This means that the boxes and paper are also a part of the shipping charges, as we would never want someone's lovely leather to arrive with any damage. That said, if a shipping price charged is deemed considerably out of line, you may receive a partial shipping refund.
Please know that all items are posted with receipts and delivery confirmation records kept on file with each order. Once an item has shipped, it is the responsibility of the buyer, and Littlewings Designs is not to be held accountable for items lost in the mail. Applicable insurance covers large items lost within the USA.
Buyers are responsible for ensuring accurate and complete shipping information when they make their purchase. Littlewings Designs is not liable for goods returned or lost in the mail due to any errors in address information, including those for international orders. Please be sure to include the correct information with your order!
All international duties, taxes, fees, or any other charges for imported goods, are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
