Additional Policies and FAQs

Who makes your toys?

I make each of the toys sold on my website. Each toy is individually made and none of the toys are mass produced or factory made. I have a small workshop set up at our home. The only parts that are factory made are the wooden dowels, balls, and wheels.

How do you come up with so many different designs?

I want my toys to be played with and cherished. Each of my toy designs are tested and approved by our daughter Julia. If she doesn't like the design, I don't make any more.

What kinds of wood do you use?

I primarily use Walnut, Maple, and Cherry. Depending on the project, I will also use Pine, Poplar, Red Oak, Aspen as well as many others.

What chemicals are in the wood finish?

The wood finish that I use on my toys is 100% natural and safe for children. The reason I know this is because I make the wood finish. I use Jojoba Oil and natural beeswax. That's it! Simple and safe.

How is the finish applied?

Each toy has the wood finish applied by hand and one at a time. I apply the wood finish and then wipe off the excess.

Are your toys safe?

My wooden toys are safe for children of any age. I don't use any nails, staples, or any other metal fastener. The glue I use is Tight Bond II brand glue, which is 100% non-toxic. I avoid having any small pieces that could be a choking hazard as well.

How should I care for my toys?

For the toys that do not have the wood finish applied, you can mix any mild detergent such as dish soap with warm water and wash the toy. Dry off the toy the best you can and then let it air dry. Use a high grit sand paper (200+) to make the toy smooth again.
For the toys that have the wood finish applied, you can either purchase a small container of wood finish from me or make your own. Rubbing jojoba oil will bring out the natural wood color and protect the wood as well.
