About

Live Joy Fibers: Creating Heirlooms - Giving Back - Honoring Family

My paternal grandmother, Olive (“Live”) was rarely seen without a ball of yarn, a bolt of fabric or a handcrafted item. To this day, I have many blankets that she crocheted for my family and me as tangible evidence of her love for us. Even though she is no longer with us, I can wrap these heirloom items around me, feeling her comfort and love. Through the heirloom items I create, I am passing on that same care and comfort, so much a part of my memory of my grandmother, Olive.

My mother, Joyce (“Joy”) gave her strength and energy to others throughout her adult life. While raising five children, volunteering for hospice to help families during their most difficult times, and gathering her grandchildren close every moment she could, my mother let all of us know that she was there to help, nurture and support. To honor her, for each purchase, a portion of the price of each item will be donated to a non-profit that helps families in crisis.

As you receive your heirloom items, know that you are getting a hug from my grandmother and that part of the proceeds from your purchase will honor my mother’s example of helping families experience needed comfort and support.

Live Joy Fibers honors these two strong, caring women.

While my knitting shop is new, I have been refining my knitting skills since learning to knit in a school club in 4th grade. While that scarf had more stitches when I ended then when I started, I have refined my skills quite a lot since then!
