Breathing New Life into Old Furniture

Inspired by nature in my art as well as in my life interests, my creative life began with the textile arts in 1980 and grew to encompass upholstered furniture design in 2007.

Working for many years alongside my husband, Chandler, we have remodeled historic log cabins and homes which incorporated unique custom-built elements. Much of this custom work began in the surrounding forests, where dead or fallen trees were selected, cut and milled into lumber. Although the fir forests of our youth are a long way from the hardwood forest sources we are currently using in our furniture construction, we have both developed a deep appreciation for the role of timber as a sustainable resource - a respect which carries into our current work.

The marriage of wood and fiber was a natural fit for me as I began work with Chandler in 2007 to develop a line of fine modern upholstered furniture. From the outset, my focus has been on health-conscious and eco-friendly materials and processes.

After two years in new furniture R&D, we began to notice around us all of the sadly worn, yet solidly built old pieces. We embarked on a rescue mission, beginning with pieces that were dumpster-bound, expanding to the not-so pretty finds at the local thrift store, eventually taking in sad chairs from friends' garages and basements. Restoring & re-styling old pieces in both organic and conventional materials has been our passion ever since.

In 2011, joining the budding revival of the little known craft of upholstery, I began teaching DIY students in my studio. Inspired by my experience with artisan mentors over the years, my dream is to help bring upholstery arts into a new light, making it easily accessible to those who wish to discover this exciting new medium of creative expression.

Living Home Furniture must receive check or money order payments within 4 business days of purchase or the item will be relisted and Etsy will be notified of non-payment. Living Home Furniture does not accept certified checks.

Please allow ten days for personal checks to clear before item ships.

We carefully inspect each piece of furniture before wrapping it in a protective covering and packaging it. All items are insured. Ninety-five percent of our shipments arrive in perfect condition and on time. In case of the rare shipping problem, please be aware LIVING HOME FURNITURE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES WHICH OCCUR DURING SHIPPING.

The following applies to larger furniture items shipped via freight carrier:
Please, INSPECT PACKAGE/CRATE CAREFULLY for any dents, tears, crushed corners or any noticeable damage before signing off on the delivery. If there is damage, the driver should note it on the Shipping Bill and sign & date it, too. Usually, a driver or won’t let the customer open the container until the shipping bill is signed, so it is very important that the carton/crate is inspected carefully and that the driver notes any damage and signs and dates the note on the Shipping Bill.

All items will be shipped by a shipper/carrier chosen by Living Home Furniture. We will consider customer recommendations. Items are usually considered property of the purchaser at the point of shipment. All claims for damages must be filed with the shipper/carrier by the purchaser as soon as possible. Living Home Furniture will assist with claims as needed as expediently as possible. We want to help a customer get quick compensation and remedy to any issue or damage that arises in receiving one of our products.

A shipper/carrier price includes only curbside or front door drop off depending on the shipper/carrier and destination property. If you wish for the shipment to be unpacked and brought into your home/office, additional arrangements must be made.

If the client’s delivery location is within 100 miles of our studio, the client may make arrangements to pick up the furniture in Livingston or Bozeman, or to have Living Home Furniture make the delivery. The delivery cost will vary due to distance, location, and size of furniture.

*Please Note: In order to charge our customers as little as possible for shipping, we do one of two things. EITHER 1) We list shipping as $0.00 and ask a customer to contact us so that we can select the best shipping option for that item for that customer. We determine the shipping cost and arrange for payment at that time. OR 2) We charge a highest cost estimate at the time of purchase. Then, we work with a customer to find the least expensive of proven reliable shipping methods and refund the difference between estimated and actual shipping costs upon shipment. We provide customers copies of shipper/carrier invoices as well as a list of our packaging and delivery-to-carrier costs.
Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are final. We do not offer returns or exchanges.

We sell vintage and previously owned furniture pieces. We consider some pieces "aged to perfection" which means imperfections may exist. These imperfections are part of the aesthetic of our furniture. Please inquire about a piece if you feel you need more information than the photos provide about its look and condition. Our pieces are sturdy and ready to use. Living Home Furniture only ships an item we ourselves would use "as is" in our own living space.
