Love this so much! Liz was wonderful to work with and the art is as fantastic as I had hoped. So excited to hang this up. Thank you!
Liz Garnett - British Photographer
In 2018 I fell up on the Tro Breiz pilgrimage route around Brittany in France and followed the route by car with my son that summer. That journey then became the basis of a novel which was published in 2020.
Since then, I discovered the Augustine Camino pilgrimage route which runs from Rochester to Ramsgate in Kent. An eminently do-able walking route. I mentioned the idea of artists as pilgrims responding to a pilgrimage to Alexandra le Rossignol and she jumped at the chance of joining me on the journey. Between us, we rounded up five more pilgrims and set out in November 2019, splitting the route into small walks and undertaking one or two a month. By early March 2020 we had walked through gale force winds and torrential rain but our spirits were high. We had discovered that it was possible to remain cheerful despite hardships. Unfortunately, the pandemic put our journey on pause.
I spent the summer working on a new style of photograph for our first exhibition "A Creative Pilgrimage - The Journey So Far" at Chartham Vineyard Gallery in October 2020 as part of the Canterbury Festival. The exhibition proved to be a great success, not only for art sales but also for the response to the story of our journey by our visitors.
The pilgrimage will continue in November 2020, following strict government guidelines to stay virus free.
My new style of images will be appearing from time to time in this shop and you can follow my journey at: https://liz0960.wixsite.com/acreativepilgrimage
Older images in this shop have mostly been created using film based photographic techniques.
