FLASH SALE on some of my ready to ship Christmas items! (This one isn't included I'm afraid!). 9pm GMT tonight through to 11pm GMT Monday 13th November. Check out the "CHRISTMAS FLASH SALE" section once live!
Making another pair of these Christmas shoes. They can be made in felt or metallic leather. Perfect for baby's first Christmas and then hang them on the tree each Christmas to remind you of how little they once were!
Love how this person customised their Lizziebug leggings! They requested the odd colour cuffs and I added the coordinating godets (triangles)!

The long and winding road on how Lizziebug was started!

After studying Costume Design for three glorious years on the sunny South Coast of England I moved back up to the land locked West Midlands.
To occupy my time and vie for the place of Favourite Auntie I started making clothes and costumes for my three (although only two at the time!) beautiful nieces; wanting to create garments that were as unique and beautiful as they were (and still are!).

I've always had a great love for print, pattern and colour and I'm careful to choose gorgeous fabrics that ignite that feeling of happiness that should be found in children's clothes. I also love to create so relish an opportunity to make a special one-off custom item!

Although the market is getting better for unisex clothing, it can still be tricky to find clothes for girls that aren't pink and glittery and clothes for boys that aren't just footballs and trains. I try to pick fabrics for my pieces that are completely unisex as my nieces love their train sets and dinosaurs as much as they love covering Grandad's kitchen table in glitter and they can't be the only ones!

The idea for Lizziebug started one evening at my middle brother's Sten Do (stag and hen. We went paintballing. I got hit a lot. I still carry the bruises to this day). My sister-in-law (through my eldest brother) was telling me how she always got compliments about outfits that I'd made for the girls and that I should sell them. Our late night ramblings continued and through discussions about what to call the business ('Auntie Lizzie' was considered until we realised that it sounded too much like I was selling potatoes or cake mixes!) and what I would sell, Lizziebug was born. I was sold on the idea when she suggested that my middle niece design the logo - she's bug mad and a far better artist than I was at her age (or am now to be honest).

So that summer I employed the oldest and the middle niece to design my logo - writing (and banner drawings) by the eldest and bug artwork by the middle - although I'm hoping that it takes them a few years to realise that they did their designing pro bono! With the youngest too young at the time to wield a pen anywhere that wasn't towards her mouth, she took prime position as my muse. Then, thanks to my super talented Mum and her graphic design skills, we turned their artwork into the logo you see today. And then I turned that into stamps and stickers and anything else I could think of!
I come from a large, close knit and artistic family so, even though it's just me running the business, it's really a family business. Whether it's ideas from my brother and sister-in-law or product testing, logo designing and glitter sprinkling from my nieces or cups of tea from my parents when I'm burning the midnight oil, everyone is a part of it.

Most days you'll find me in my kitchen-come-studio at the work table that my Dad constructed - trying to explain to the cat that, just because I'm at home, it doesn't mean that it's food time and getting every penny out of my Netflix subscription! I'm always up for a chat so please feel free to contact me with any queries you have :)
When I'm not sewing I can be found working on a Box Office and doodling new designs onto Post It notes!

So there we have it, the long and the short of how Lizziebug started. Feel free to have a look around in my shop and please send me a message if you have any queries or ideas on custom makes.
