The spoons are just as described and I was able to communicate with the craft artist as to general design preferences. Nancy is a pleasure to work with, reliable and trustworthy.

Making functional ware people will enjoy and use everyday is what's most important to me. I am passionate about the down-to-earth approachable nature of my work whatever the pattern, shape, or design.

Often described as modern and classic. I make pieces that are decorative and special enough for any special occasions, and also practical and durable enough for every day use.

The natural feel of my work comes from my lifestyle. I live on the coast. It's beach cottage living both comfortable and modern.

I spend much of my time on or in the ocean and as a result it features greatly in my work. I'm surrounded by nature and the living breathing every changing environment of the sea and coastal weather patterns. The ocean is different every minute of every day. Every moment a thousand different colours, textures, and moods are reflected, the spectacular colour and light where the sea and sky meet.

I'm passionate about ocean conservation.

The short story about me; 2011 I left the corporate world after 18+ years. My creative life has always been in the background, my second "jobby". My art education steeped in graphic design and Illustration. I started working in clay around 2003 and began showing and selling my ceramics seriously by 2007/2008. I have been steadily building my business ever since. After leaving the corporate sector; I decided it was time to take the leap and become a full-time artist. I wanted to devote myself to doing my creative work as my 'real' job. And a leap of faith it has been!

Etsy is an amazing venue and a powerful vehicle to promote my work and reach an audience I wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. Creating my shop on Etsy has unmistakably helped my business grow. Over the last year, I have had some amazing opportunities and exposure and my business is growing. I am now working with major retailers, and galleries on a scale much greater than ever before. I'm really excited about my work and the new opportunities. My commitment is to grow sustainably and continue to remain dedicated to retaining the personal, handmade feel of my work.

I both slab and coil build in primarily in porcelain. All of the functional ware is entirely food/dishwasher safe. The process of bringing these pieces to life is painstaking. I make each piece by hand from beginning to end. Every aspect of my studio practice is done by me. Decoratively, each piece has a drawing entirely original that I hand carve. There are thematic similarities; the nautical/oceanic themes, and floral patterns, and yet I deliberately add decorative details making each piece different from it's predecessor. What I want that to convey to the customer is the work is entirely and thoughtfully hand made. For me, It's the most important part of what I do. It's personal, and I want it to be personal to my customers.

Thank you for visiting my shop and taking the time to learn more about me and what I do.

all my best,

I work full time as a studio ceramic artist and make exclusively hand built constructed work without the use of molds. As a result, each piece has a unique flavor and personality and is a piece of usable, functional art! Because I use templates much as a sewer uses pattern, though each piece is intentionally different, there is a complimentary variation across my work.

I have an illustration design background and I decorate my pieces with original hand drawn designs through a process very similar to that of scrimshaw.

I can create less variation for sets and place settings as requested.

Custom orders are always welcome.

All items in the store at this time are by special order unless otherwise listed as available. Because my process is labor intensive, orders take 4-6 weeks on average, special orders may take longer.

I can do special orders or colors, so please let me know what you are looking for and I will do my best to accommodate your request. I welcome your interest and suggestions.

I use a stoneware clay body fired in an electric kiln to cone 5/6. In all of my work I use food safe glaze, though dishwasher safe - I encourage hand washing.

I also consider myself a GREEN business. I have a small sustainable studio space on my property, I use entirely recycled packing materials and encourage all my customers to please reuse or recycle the packing material. I recycle my unused clay and donate to the local clay studio for use in beginning children's classes. Wherever possible I recycle buckets, studio furniture and boxes. For my shows I have built displays for my work out of old fence work and recycled found wood.
