About

I first put my hands in clay a few years ago. I was looking for a stress reliever and heard of a lot of people doing various forms of art for that benefit. When I first threw on the wheel I was hooked. When you make pottery, all of your concentration is focused on staying centered, symmetrical, smooth, etc. You don't have the ability to think about anything else. Also, you get the benefit of having a functional piece of art in the end as a bonus! I started spending all of my time and money setting up a little in home studio with a wheel, kiln and slab roller. At first I didn't think too much about selling any of my creations- I was just having fun playing with clay! After a while I started to see a demand for what I was making and once I had my son I decided to stay home with him and put any extra energy into creating and maintaining LKB Pottery. So most of my days are full of naps, snacks and playtime but I am able to get work done during naps and after bedtime. I focus on functional pottery and am inspired by the nature that surrounds me by living in Maine. I truly think that pottery is a magical art and I feel lucky to be able to translate that magic into something that someone can enjoy indefinitely.
