Settle for more
Hola! I’m Quitrina, and often go by Qui (“key”), which rhymes with my last name, Moede (“mee-dee”). Self-taught calligrapher, artist, plant propagator, and lazy urban homesteader. My main gig is at-home mom to three kiddos, ages 3, 5, and 8; I moonlight as a creative by night (and nap time). Etsy is where I market two main things: calligraphy for event signage (place cards, gift tags, envelopes, etc) and my custom glass + brass signs. You can also find me on Instagram: @lockandkeep.
Co-creating
I enjoy collaborating with customers to achieve their unique ideas and visions. The items in my shop are on-trend styles that I personally find rewarding to make, but there’s no end to what we can do together. I will put calligraphy on anything, so holler if you’d like something off the beaten path.
Heartfelt
Most of the custom Glass + Brass signs I make comprise quotes, lyrics, and dates commemorating moments and memories. While many of these occasions are celebratory - weddings/vows, anniversaries, births, adoptions, etc - it’s not uncommon for a commissioned sign to honor a life lost. I am deeply honored to offer a way for others to leave a mark, a memento, a keepsake of the love and life that is so worth cherishing and remembering.
Priorities
I’m not the most prolific Etsy calligrapher out there. I take only a handful of orders each month, typically scheduled well in advance. This pace makes me a better human, and actually gives me a little room for my own artwork and creative projects. Oh, and my family ;)
Artful Advocacy
I donate 10% of all revenue to charity. The cause and recipient nonprofits change often. 2018 donations have been made to March for Our Lives to help end gun violence in schools. 2017 donations were made to: Orphan Relief & Rescue (to end injustice for children in West Africa), Urban Impact (to break the cycle of poverty in Seattle's Rainier Valley), the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (to foster bi-partisan advocacy for adoption and repeal the adoption credit tax cut); NAVOS (trauma-informed mental health services for low-income children); Moms Demand Action (to end gun violence); Westside Baby (a diaper and baby gear bank for low-income families); the NAACP (to help protect the lives, rights and future of African Americans), and the International Rescue Committee and World Relief (to aid in refugee relief). In January 2016, our #lockarmskeepmoving fundraiser raised nearly $2,000 for the ACLU, Propublica, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and OpenSecrets.org. Thank you to all who purchased a fundraiser sign for a 100% donation.
