Welcome to LocustGroves!!
I started making soap almost 20 years ago. Even with a water softener system in our home, I just couldn't find a soap that didn't leave me feeling dry and itchy..
Rather than continue to invest in moisturizers to deal with the aftermath, I chose to try making my own soap.
I tested multiple recipes, and finally got brave enough to make up one of my own.
EUREKA!! I found it. A wonderful scent (without any additives), lather, lather, lather, and no dry skin after showering..
My friends and family have been supplied for many years, and the calls come in when they run out...
Now I am making my recipes available to you.
Most soap bases are vegan, all are cold processed soap. And I test/use each to ensure the quality of the batch.
If you have never tried a by the batch personal products, here is some information on why they are making a resurgence of all natural beauty products.. this is a great article from "beautybythebatch"
'During the past 10-20 years, the number of individuals with allergies, eczema and asthma has increased significantly. If you are an adult over age 30, think back to your childhood. You probably know many more friends and family members that have eczema, other skin sensitivities and allergies now than when you were younger. This drastic increase is no surprise when we consider the increased use of chemicals within the products we use.

Products made with natural and nearly all-natural ingredients are generally safer, gentler, healthier, and often more enjoyable to use than commercially made products. Returning to more natural products can enhance your overall well-being.

Artisans of handmade personal and home care products are typically quite knowledgeable of the ingredients that they use and generally have a passion for using and offering practical and/or luxurious green products that are healthy for their customers and safer for the environment.

Commercial products typically contain a variety of synthetic ingredients that can cause irritation, sensitivity, rashes and eczema. Commercial products can also dry out the skin and hair and cause it to age prematurely. Petroleum based ingredients, chemically derived preservatives, solvents and alcohols all can be damaging to our skin and bodies, especially with long-term or frequent use.
"By the Batch" natural and nearly all-natural products are generally better because...

* Artisans typically use higher quality ingredients.

* Artisans generally include specialty ingredients that are better suited for particular personal care applications.

* Artisans usually use fresher ingredients.

* Handmade products traditionally include few if any synthetic ingredients.

* By purchasing artisan-made products, you support small businesses.

* Some artisans grow their own botanicals or purchase ingredients directly from small farmers.

* By purchasing organic products, you go a step farther and support organic farming methods and those that are working hard to improve our environment.

* You support creativity and those who focus on developing green products.

* Artisan-made products can sometimes be less expensive than mass-made products.

* Customers of artisan-made products often receive better, more caring customer service.

* Some artisans will even accept special requests and custom formulate products to their customers' requests.'

I hope you enjoy the soap! More products to come, including shampoo, conditioner, bath bombes, paintings and quilts..
