High quality writing instrument. GORGEOUS and CHIC! This pen has quickly become my favorite pen to write with it! The weight of the pen is perfect! The ink glides across the paper effortlessly. I'm almost tempted to say that this pen has caused my writing to improve. The pen shipped almost immediate after placing the order---and I received it sooner than I expected. Log2Lumber's customer service was impeccable! Every question and every concern was answered and addressed in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. I look forward to making future purchases with this shop! I LOVE my pen! Thank you!

I received this bowl one day earlier than anticipated. It was more beautiful than what I thought from the picture. Thank you to the Lobaito family for this beautifully, crafted piece.

Saving Wood From The Firewood Pile And The Dump

We take wood headed for the firewood pile or the dump and turn it into utilitarian and art items on our lathes. The best wood is urban wood with character and a story of where it came from.

We started out in 2005 with our first portable sawmill making lumber for customers, woodworkers, and our own projects. That was also the year we bought a lathe and started turning basic pens and bowls.

For the next 2 years we sawmilled a lot of white ash which killed most of trees here in S.E. Michigan by the emerald ash borer. After 2 years, we needed a bigger sawmill and moved up to a Woodmizer LT-40. That's when the real fun began. We have been making lumber for people who had trees taken down and want to use for their own projects, builders who want to recycle, our club, and for our own projects. Along the way we have made many friends in the woodworking community.

We joined a woodturning club and both became actively involved including officers. We have refined our skills through the collaboration of the club members, the professional demonstrators our club has brought in, regional and national symposiums. Joining the club was the best decision we ever made in this journey.

We attend the 2016 American Association of Woodturners annual symposium in Atlanta as a family. Joy participated in an intimate critique by professional woodturners (including David Marks) of a piece she brought to display. Her experience was published in September 2016 U.K. Woodturning Magazine. Chuck helped out in the youth room as a volunteer teaching kids how to turn and helping to pack up the 26 lathes some of the kids who participated won. He and our daughter assist in the youth room each year they attend.

We are a family of who use locally salvage wood to create our functional items and art. We own a portable sawmill which is where we obtain our materials. This is urban lumber from tree services & homeowners headed for the firewood pile or the dump.
