I am an Ayrshire based Bear artist, I look to recreate the bears that we look back on with such fondness and love.
Being a child of the 70s I grew up surrounded by bears ranging from Paddington to Rupert and like any child I had my gang of cuddlies! I must have been around 10 years old when I bought my 1st proper traditional bear. He was from a local Mill shop and he was made from sheepskin. He was called Fred and unlike the bears I had, Fred was jointed and although he was a new bear, he seemed to have an old soul about him. Over the years I bought a few artist bears and now have quite a collection.
I taught myself how to make bears and after the 1st one I was totally hooked!
I work with many different mediums and I love how different fabrics and furs create very different bears. Most of the Logi Bears that you see here are created from mohair or plush synthetic fur but I also use vintage fur coats. Any fur that I use for Logi Bears is vintage, some I have dated to be over 90 years old - I do not use new fur.
All my bears are fully stitched and I use traditional components such as cotter joints and glass eyes. Logi Bears are not for children due to the nature of these components and I would recommend for adult collectors.
