LH design is an independent, one-woman run business based in Brighton, UK, owned by designer Lola Hoad. Creating handlettered paper goods with contemporary expressions/quotes, Lola opened her online shop in May 2014, with a need to just do what she loved.
Now creating in her home studio full time, her days consist of coffee, post office runs, ink everywhere and anywhere, and running around after Barney, her Border Terrier. She also runs the collective 'One Girl Band', a place for creative entrepreneurs to support and help each other through the trials and tribulations of self-employment.
I create typographic paper goods that feature hand-lettered expressions and quotes. They intend to brighten up your home and/or workspace, as well as make lovely gifts for special people. They are also perfect for telling someone how you feel in a simple, minimal way. Motivational and inspiring, not threatening or pushy, I like to think that my prints give you a little hand when you're having a hard day, and remind you of the important things in life.
Each expression/quote is intricately hand-lettered with a pencil outline to begin with, and then with a mix of ink and watercolour. They are then scanned in, vectorised and digitally fixed (but only slightly as I like to keep the 'charming' flaws in). I then send the design to our trusted local printer, who prints them onto 100% recycled 350gsm card for greeting cards, or 300gsm luxury silk card for prints. We use local to ensure we don't rack up our carbon footprint by wasting paper by printing unnecessarily, and so we can be as sustainable as we can be whilst working with paper. Each print is unique, with a signature on the back of each one. The recycled card also gives a unique flecked finish.
The cards are accompanied by recycled flecked kraft envelopes. Lovely!

Once I've received your payment, I will process and ship as soon as possible (normally within 1-3 days). If there is an issue with your order, you will be notified as soon as humanly possible. If it's a custom order, I will get to work as soon as payment is received and will ship as soon as it is complete.
If you ask for a custom order, I will not be able to cancel the transaction after payment because I've mostly likely started it as soon we've decided.
Items will always been sent 1st Class delivery unless otherwise stated. If you would prefer Tracked and Signed, please select this as a shipping upgrade at checkout.
Everywhere Else- Your item will be sent International Tracked And Signed. I have made this compulsory (hence the slight increase in postage price) as this is for peace of mind (for both you and I!) and will ensure faster delivery. Your item should arrive in a week. Tracked and Signed also has the efficiency and security of being able to track your item, but please make sure someone will be in to sign for the item, or it may get sent to your local post office for you to collect.
You will receive a confirmation of shipping from Etsy, as well as a handwritten thank you note and a packing note from me with your delivered item.
Prints will be delivered in a cellophane slip and cardboard-backed envelope to ensure protection. Cards are delivered in a cellophane slip and bubble-wrapped envelope. To thank you for buying your christmas cards/gifts from LH Design this holiday season, all products will come specially giftwrapped in festive red + white twine.
The average processing, shipping and delivery time for ready-made prints and cards is 1-3 days. For custom prints, it may be 1-2 weeks but this will be discussed upon enquiry.
Refunds and Exchanges
If your item gets damaged whilst in transit (hopefully not!) I will send you a new one free of charge if there are others available and in stock.
If your item gets lost in the post, I'll get in touch with Royal Mail and have a moan for you. However, for international orders, I will have to wait 28 days before declaring it missing. Hopefully this won't happen though as I go through great lengths to make sure that you are 100% happy with your item and that its packaging fully protects it!
