Fantasy and fun for spirited adventurers.
My shop is about... imagination, fun, laughter and play. I want people (teens, kids, adults, whoever!) to feel free express themselves in an imaginative way.
Lolicrafts began as a pencil sketch and two very bad hats. I had no prior sewing experience and had to borrow a friend's machine to sew, but I was thrilled. I began to make hats and gifts for my friends, and soon I had my very own Brother sewing machine (the same one I still use today to make everything in my shop)
I stumbled across this website called Etsy and suddenly I had an avenue to sell the fun little creations I had started to make.
My first sale was a Crazy Squid Hat, which is still one of my favorite designs, though I don't offer it in the shop anymore.
I considered Lolicrafts to be a hobby for a long time after I opened. I made a few sales, but they were few and far between. I didn't have a vision for the shop and didn't have many items listed either. I made fleece hats at first, then some novelty purses, then jewelry, then hair clips. Somewhere in the middle of all that I made my first pair of kitty ears on a whim.
With Etsy, it can take time to find your groove. Eventually the kitty ear headbands began to outpace everything else in sales. The requests kept coming in for different colors or different animals and for matching tails. It eventually became apparent that Lolicrafts was meant to be about the animal costumes.
In fall of 2012 I was hit with a mad rush of Halloween orders and was working nearly 15 hours a day to fill them all. I had to get help to keep up with all the work, which was a first. That's when I realized that this was really worth doing. People liked and wanted what I had to sell. It was then that I decided to commit whole-heartedly to Lolicrafts and see how much it could grow.
Many of the things I offer in the shop are the result of custom requests, but I also try a lot of new ideas as inspiration strikes. I have a passionate love for animals, so most everything starts from that place. When I get inspired to make a new type of headband or tail, I sit down and search through photos to get the idea of how the actual animal looks. Then I do a pencil sketch on paper of the basic shape. I cut that out and test it with fabric. Usually the first try is a little wonky. After a bit of refining I'll have my finished headband. Some things become surprisingly popular, as in the case of the Deer Headband with Antlers, and some things don't sell at all. I'm always relying on my customers to tell me what people are searching for out there on the internet.
It's exciting to be able to tell people that I run my own business selling hand-made things online. I feel satisfied to be using my talents to make money. It is an incredibly rewarding job, especially when I get to hear how much people sincerely appreciate owning something I have made.

I give estimates below on how quickly a package could arrive based on USPS quotes, but they are only estimates and not guarantees.
Items are wrapped in a decorative paper bag and shipped in a padded envelope.
*First class- Estimated arrival is 2-5 business days (Mon-Fri) from date of shipment.
*Priority- Estimated arrival is 1-3 business days (Mon-Fri) from date of shipment. This is available for selection as a shipping upgrade when you check out.
*Insurance for US orders
Message me before buying if you would like to purchase insurance on your order. Insurance makes it possible to receive a refund on the cost of an item/items if a package goes missing. Without insurance, I am not able to issue refunds on lost items.
All international orders ship First Class International with the USPS. Tracking is usually available until the package leaves the US (about the first 3 days of travel), but in some cases not even that info is available.
Estimated arrival for International orders varies by country.
CA, UK, & AU: Approx 1-2 weeks
Everywhere else: Approx 2-4 weeks, sometimes more
Please be aware that some International shipments do go missing, whether by theft or otherwise. If a customer wants to add additional security to their shipment, I can set up a listing with the cost of Registered Mail added into the shipping. Please message me before buying if you would like this option, but keep in mind that it more than doubles the cost to ship.
International shipments may be subject to taxes or fees upon arrival. It is not the responsibility of Etsy sellers to cover the cost of those fees, even if the buyer was unaware of the additional cost of importing merchandise. If you are unsure whether your country charges fees for incoming packages, please look into it before buying.
The cost for Priority International is very high, so I don't have it listed as a shipping upgrade option. Message me if you would like a quote.
Arrival times are usually later around the holidays (Oct-Dec)
Suggested ordering times are:
National orders: 2-3 weeks before it is needed
International: 5-6 weeks before it is needed
Refunds and Exchanges
In the event that your product purchased from Lolicrafts does not meet your expectations, you may return it postmarked within 10 days of the date you receive the package for credit to your original payment method or for exchange, less any shipping charges.
You may return your product(s) for a refund or exchange provided:
*All items being refunded are returned
*The item is clean and free of any damage or wear caused by the customer
Please contact Lolicrafts via Etsy message or email to lolicrafts [!at] gmail.com prior to returning your product.
I will only refund the original shipping cost on your order if you received the incorrect item or the item sent was defective.
I do not issue refunds on shipping solely because an item arrives later than expected.
If you are making an exchange because you want a different item, you will be responsible to pay shipping on your exchange plus any additional difference in price. The return/exchange value is determined by the retail price of the item when it was purchased.
I process refunds as quickly as I can, but refunded money may not show up in an account for several days or more, depending on how quickly Etsy and the bank process the refund.
MISSING OR DAMAGED PACKAGES:
If a package is lost in the mail after I have delivered it to the USPS, I am not responsible for replacing the lost item(s). Complaints about lost or damaged packages should be made with the USPS. If a package can't be located by speaking to your local post office or checking it's progress with the tracking number, please contact me and I'll see if there's anything I can do to resolve the issue on my end. Sometimes there is nothing I can do, but occasionally I can at least offer a little clarity on an issue.
CUSTOM ORDER RETURNS:
Do to the one of a kind nature of custom orders, I don't accept returns for custom items, unless the item sent was defective, and then the above guidelines apply.
I require payment for a custom order before I will begin working on it.
Additional policies and FAQs
My discount system for bulk orders works like this:
10-20 items receives a 15% discount.
20-30 items receives a 25% discount.
30 or more items receives a 30% discount.
Cost of shipping is added once the final weight of the items is determined.
**CUSTOM ORDER POLICIES:
Here is how I do custom orders...
1. Discussing Details:
The customer and I discuss whether I am able to do their custom order. If I believe it is something I can accomplish, I will ask for details about the order, such as: Colors, Size, Shape, and whether they have a Reference Photo chosen.
This is when the customer should give all relevant details and desires for the custom piece, as it is very difficult to make changes after the item is made.
Once I have a grasp of how much work it is going to take to accomplish the request, I will give a price quote.
If the customer is asking for changes to a design already being sold in my shop, the listed price for the item in my shop is the BASE PRICE, and any alterations to that put the price higher. (Unless they are asking that something be left out, like horns or mane, etc, which may take the price down a little bit)
Changes to fabric color do NOT cost extra, unless the customer wants a color or fabric that I do not currently have available. If I need to travel to the fabric store to hunt for and purchase something new, then that costs extra.
The minimum cost for me to go and buy new fabric is $7. If the fabric is very expensive, then the price is adjusted accordingly.
If the customer wants something completely new designed, then I have to draft a pattern for the new item. This takes extra time and lots of trial and error, therefore it costs more.
The base cost for me to make a new pattern for an item is an additional $12 on top of what it costs for me to make the item.
Once all the details are worked out, I set up a custom listing with the correct price and shipping. All the details will be outlined in that listing, and I will be making the order to those specifications, so it is very important that the customer reads all that to double check it.
I start work on the order after it has been purchased.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL ON CUSTOM ORDERS. I do not give refunds for custom orders once I begin working on the item(s). If the buyer cancels before I do the work, I am happy to refund their money. I am not, however, willing to do the work and then not get paid for something I cannot sell in my shop.
3. Approving the Item(s):
When I finish the work, which usually takes about 2-3 business days, I send photos of the finished product for approval. If the customer isn't satisfied with how the item(s) turned out, I am willing to do a little extra tweaking to ensure they are satisfied with what they have purchased. Extra tweaking includes things like adjusting the position of the ears, or adding in a detail I may have missed, like spots or folds, etc. More photos are sent, and if the customer is happy, I ship out the order.
Since I have a No Refund policy on custom orders, I am willing to do this extra work to make an item "just right", but I do not promise an unlimited amount of time towards that goal. I want my customers to be happy that they ordered from me, but I don't want to work so many hours on something that I'm basically not getting paid for my time.
~FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
**"Can you make a headband to fit a child younger than 3 years old?"**
The intended age range for my headbands is 3 yrs-Adult because the ears and other pieces can be a choking hazard if the headbands are disassembled during use. Due to strict regulations on products for children under 3 (Which are in place for good reason. Gotta keep little ones safe!) I don't make or advertise my products for kids under 3.
As for the headbands themselves, I recommend them for head sizes of 18" and up. Children 3 years or older reliably have an 18" or larger head, so I can safely tell my customers that the headbands will stay put during use. (And yes, they all work great for adults to, as they are very flexible and sized for adult use)
I've had many parents say that the headbands fit nicely on children 1 to 2 years as well, but because of the choking hazard, I don't recommend my items for that age range. There is also the possibility that the headband will be loose and slip off.
My customers are free to use my products however they like, but it is "use at your own risk" when it comes to toddlers. If you do choose to use my items for kids younger than the intended age range, please keep them supervised and safe.
As for whether I can make something custom for a toddler or an infant, such as a stretchy head wrap, hat, or something with elastic pieces... I have to say no to those requests.
Due to all the regulations on products for infants and toddlers, I choose not to market or make items for that age range. I also have a very busy schedule keeping up with my regular work, and I don't have the time or desire to try and make something for that age group. Baby items are a different business altogether, and it simply isn't my niche.
There are many shops on Etsy and elsewhere that specialize in items for the 0-3 age range. I recommend doing a search and seeing what else is out there. There is a lot of great, adorable stuff!
**"Can you make this tail without the safety pin?**
The intended age range for my pin-on tails is 8yrs-adult. This is due to safety regulations on products for children, which set the age for using products with sharp edges at 8 years and up.
As for making a tail without the safety pin, perhaps substituting in a belt loop or something similar, that is something I choose not to do at this time. Some of my designs could possibly accommodate a loop, but the skinny ones like mouse and pig are so small as to make that very hard to accomplish. I may, in the future, modify my tails to be suitable for use without a safety pin, but that sort of design change is very time consuming and I'm not ready to tackle it yet.
**"Can you make this, except use faux fur?"**
I do not, in general, keep a stock of faux fur in my fabric stash, and my local fabric store is not very reliable as a supplier of fur, whether that be because they don't have great colors/textures, or the type they have is low quality, as far as fur fabrics go.
Also, faux fur is very troublesome use and it makes quite a mess, which often gets on my other fabrics and is hard to clean up.
So, I generally won't use faux fur on an order, but I'm not wholly unwilling to consider it in small amounts. It really depends on the request.
If your heart is set on having something more realistic by way of faux fur, there are lots of great costume shops on Etsy that use it exclusively, and are therefore better equipped to handle such a request. I'm happy to make a couple of suggestions of shops if you need them. :)
**"Will you give me a discount on my order?"**
I happily offer a discount on bulk orders of 10 items or more. (See BULK ORDERS info higher up)
I also occasionally have a SALE in my shop via use of a coupon code which would be posted in my Shop Announcement and on my Facebook fan-page. If I am currently having a sale, I will give you the coupon code. Otherwise, nope, I don't hand out discounts just for the asking. That would be unfair to my other customers who pay the listed price.
**"Can you ship with UPS or FedEx?"**
Nope, sorry. I only ship with the USPS. It is my preferred method, and also easier for me to do through Etsy. Going down to the UPS or FedEx store takes me exponentially more time and effort to do than shipping through my regular carrier, the USPS.
If you're worried about an order going missing because it is shipped with USPS, Insurance is available by request before an order is placed. For International shipments, I recommend requesting a Registered Mail upgrade prior to purchase.
