It started five years ago in Bali as a hobby. I got the idea that the local hand-made rangrang textiles would make the most beautiful bags. I found some of the best craftsmen in Indonesia to make those bags and they became legendary.

I personally select every sheet that goes to my bags and decides what kind of bag it will become. It is rare that any two bags become even closely similar. Some of these textiles are really difficult to find and I make trips around Indonesia to find the textiles I want.

Now we are in Lombok and we produce 1-5 bags per day. Bags are made in four workshops that all have their own specialties. Workshops are in Lombok and in Bali, which gives my shop name Lombalio. Textiles come mainly from Bali and Lombok but in the future, I will add some bags from ethnic textiles from Borneo and Sumatra as well.

All the textiles are hand-woven in homes or small workshops. In every sheet, there is one week of work. We do not order the patterns, especially the color and pattern of rangrang textiles is based on the mood of the weaver. For example, black and white rangrang pattern is very beautiful and popular in bags but it is very difficult to find.

Our Lombok operations were suspended after the earthquake period summer and autumn 2018 but life is luckily returning to normal by 2020.
