Slow-Crafts by Loneweever
I am Laurie, and I am Loneweever. I make all of the items in this shop. I have always had the Itch to Stitch ... but no need for speed.
In 2008, I opened Loneweever on Etsy, selling my twined baskets and hand-stitched pincushions. After 100 sales, my husband and I opened a second Etsy shop, stocked with vintage treasures. That shop, ThreeOldKeys, has grabbed most of my spare time for the past 5 years.
But a true stitchin' itch never goes away. The yearning keeps burning ... and the ideas still simmer. I had to put all those metaphors to rest!!! So I started sewing pincushions again. Loneweever is back, as slow as ever, and having a great time.
Combining old melmac cups and enamelware mugs with felted wool is just plain fun. The textures and colors are a treat to the senses. Each pincushion is different, and each is a high-quality, pin-friendly sewing notion. I like knowing every "make-do" will eventually be enjoyed by another stitcher or collector.
Most of my fabrics are "rescued textiles" or scraps from other sewing projects. I love old quilts worn to shreds, and shrunken wool sweaters. Etsy is full of creative people making New from Old. We have fancy words for it now, but to our ancestors, it only made sense. Imagine great-grandma declaring she would "upcycle" those feedsacks and "repurpose" her jars.
I've gathered lots of vintage melamine cups, and metal camping cups too. It will take this slow-crafter a long time to fill them all, so if you have a custom request, let me make your pincushion next.
