I am so pleased with this necklace. It is much prettier than the picture shows and very nicely made. So nice to not only get amazing jewelry that I love but also the opportunity to help others!

About

Changing Lives One Paper Bead At A Time

I never thought that I would end up in Africa. Some people dream of going there, not me. But now, here I am, and there is no place I would rather be.

I first moved to Uganda in November of 2010. I was only supposed to stay for a year, but I quickly fell in love with the country and a group of boys that called the streets home. I knew I couldn't leave them where they were so in October of 2011, I started the paperwork to create a non profit, LOT 2545, in the US.

We have a home in Kampala, Uganda for boys that used to live on the streets. All of the boys are older (15-21) because this age group is usually overlooked. We currently have 19 boys that we provide for.

Each piece of jewelry purchased from this store helps a woman provide for her family and supports the boys' home. The women that make the jewelry get paid above market value per piece that they make and then the profits support the boys' home. So you are not only ensuring that our boys never have to spend another night on the streets, but also that the jewelry makers are able to pay school fees and feed their children.

Thank you for helping us to help them!

I moved to Uganda in November 2010. I didn't know what I would find there or if I would like it, but I knew it was where God wanted me. I have found a home and a calling in Uganda and I can't imagine being anywhere else right now.
