The sculpture was exactly as depicted on the site. It is well crafted. I brought it as a graduation gift for my sister who I think will love it; she's a philosophy major. The item was send via snail-mail from Australia to USA, but came within the timeframe predicted by the artist. I'm very pleased.

About

A life less ordinary

Welcome to my studio in the sub-tropical Byron Bay hinterland.

My Hungarian grandmother was a cabaret dancer and had beautiful costumes and jewellery. As a child, I would dress up in them and imagine being an artist like her. This grew into a love of textiles and pattern. I studied visual arts at the South Australian School of Arts, majoring in sculpture and printmaking. I now use a variety of techniques like scraffito, glazes, slips, lino cuts and handcarved molds to emboss my ceramic artworks.

My aim is to make something classic and timeless, yet contemporary. My signature pieces are often simple shapes with complex surfaces. The beauty and symmetry of nature is my design guide. I love the idea that patterns have an underlying mathematical structure. And that we humans are hardwired for pattern recognition.

My artwork is a quest to make beautiful objects that pay tribute to our natural world and cultural heritage. I draw ideas from my local environment and travels. I look beyond what is immediately obvious and develop the unique essence. With ceramics there is no going back once it's fired.

I have had several solo art exhibitions, the most recent being in Shigaraki, Japan. I have been an artist-in-residence at Sanbao in Jingdezhen, China; at the International Ceramic Studio in Kesckemet, Hungary; and at several art residencies in Australia.

I work with a variety of clays including terracotta, raku and paperclays. I also use found objects in some sculpture. My kiln is powered by a bank of solar panels and I use green shipping materials when possible.

Everything you see in my shop is my design. Intimate and small enough to ship, my studio is full of original, personal and one of a kind objects. Exclusive to my Etsy shop, you will find pieces showing both the raw beauty of clay and the jewel colors of glazed pieces. Shop with confidence that you will get something precious, collectable and uniquely hand made.
