Handmaking 1950's style dresses in Brighton since 2009

I started up the brand Oh My Honey in 2009 with the aspiration to design and sell 1950′s style dresses that had been skilfully handmade in the UK; giving customers the opportunity to have dresses made to their own measurements or even in their own fabrics. The dresses take the classic 1950′s elements, with a twist of modern style, and have been selling all over the world since the label was launched over 5 years ago.

Although I am fascinated by costumes from all eras, the style of the 50′s woman has always been my favourite. Glamorous, feminine and chic, the nipped in waists and full skirts make any women look fantastic, and I love making and wearing them!

All dresses are made to order in Brighton, either by myself or one of my talented seamstresses, that way you know you will be getting a beautiful garment that has been made with care and attention.

As well as the ready to wear collection ; featuring designs that can be worn day or night in a vast selection of fabrics, prints and colours, Oh My Honey also has a Couture Collection with dresses made in high quality fabrics and intricate designs, and in November 2011 the first of many wedding dress collections was launched for 1950's inspired brides that want something a little different!

It has been a great 5 years for Oh My Honey, with several features in the top UK wedding blogs and features in national and international fashion and bridal magazines. Every year gets more exciting as the brand grows, creating more dream gowns for brides and making women all over the world dresses that they feel absolutely fabulous in!

I pride myself on making beautifully made dresses and great customer care, if you ever have any questions, or need help selecting a dress or fabrics, don't hesitate to get in touch.

As a full time seamstress, I enjoy earning my living by making creative bridal wear, costumes, hats, and 50's inspired dresses.

I work from home in my beautiful house in the countryside near Brighton UK, that I share with 12 housemates, 11 chickens, 5 horses, and a peacock that has also decided it is such a lovely place he wants to live here too!

With qualifications in Fashion, Millinery and Costume Design and Making, I love to mix them all together to make wearable art or vintage inspired dresses. I also make wedding dresses for women who want something a bit different. Have a look at my website for more!

I regret that I am unable to offer refunds on items made in a fabric of your choice, or a special design, because they are not available on my website, and I will be unable to resell them. Additional policies and FAQs
Because all items are made to order, it is very important that when buying a dress you check your measurements against my size chart to avoid disappointment.

Garment Care

It is important that you follow the care instructions that come with the garment you have bought.

For most dresses, I recommend washing at 30 degrees, and hang to dry.

Tulle can be delicate, so I recommend hand washing and hang to dry.

The vintage material I use is usually good quality fabric, in order to keep it this way, and to extend its life, hand wash.

If you are ever in any doubt, please email me with details of your garment.

As with all felt hats, these should not be worn in the rain, or ever get wet. This will make them loose their shape. Hats and fascinators should be kept in a safe place, where they will not get crushed or distorted, if heavy items are placed on top of them, they could permanently loose their shape. Look after your hats!

To help refresh the shape of your felt hat, you can use fabric stiffener lightly sprayed or painted on the inside.
