About

I live, play and work with a Respectful Commitment to All things in the Sacred Circle of Life and a deep Reverence for the Gifts of the Universe.

clay.
images.
words.
my work tells stories.

I was a Marine Corps Gypsy Child (both of my parents were Marines and I'm sure they looked at me and wondered if the babies hadn't been switched at birth more than a few times....), moving hither and yon to Military Bases all across the U.S. of A during my Childhood. Then at 18, I was off to Art School in Boston (the Massachusetts College of Art, where I majored in Illustration/Graphic Design and Photography) but the call of Foreign Lands beckoned me, and so, backpack firmly planted on my small shoulders, I ventured forth. By the time I settled into my life in Seattle at 40, I had visited over 14 different Countries and almost all of the United States. I kept intense journals of all my Travels, capturing the diverse traditions of Arts and Images through my photos, sketches, and writings to use as inspiration in my own Designs.

Where is Clay in this "her-story" you might ask?
The beauty of working with Mother Earth didn't come into my life until almost 10 years ago and quite by accident, or so it seemed at the time. I was invited to a "paint your own pottery" party and something in me clicked in a major way and I have never looked back, and my art has not been the same, since. I quickly tired of buying already made Pottery (called Bisqueware and easily broken) to paint on, I wanted to make my own. I wanted to feel the smooth clay between my fingers. I wanted to form my own bond with Mother Earth by making my Vision come to life using her Gifts, and so I searched out ways to make that happen and LoveArtWorks was born.

Two things transpired at the same time during my search to expand my experience in Clay: I met the woman {Vicki Hamilton} who has become the dearest of Friends and my Collaborator on all of the Wheel Thrown Pottery in my Shop, and I found the Communal Pottery Studio where I create all of my work. I am a Hand Builder (and sometimes I Slipcast my work, but that's rare these days) which means I take a Beautiful Lump of Clay and manipulate it (without using a "Wheel") into many of the pieces you see in my Shop: Dishes and Yarn Bowls, Hanging Plaques, Sculptural Work and Poetry Birds, to name a few. The Images and Words are never far behind the "Clay" aspect of my work as I view my Pottery like a "3-D" Canvas: a blank page to tell a Story.

I quickly began to see the limitations of Hand Building for some of the work I wanted to create and so I approached Vicki and asked her to "throw pieces" on the Wheel for me. You see, she's been a Potter for 40+ years and is Amazing and I admire and adore her and her work. She agreed, and we have the Best Time in our Collaborative Sessions!! We talk and plan and try out ideas and through this Wondrous Partnership the "Wheel Thrown" Pottery aspect of LoveArtWorks came to fruition...YAY!!

Thank you for reading my wee "Bio" and I hope you have learned a little about the "story" behind my Pottery. I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope you fill your Home with Beautiful HandMade Things that make your Heart Happy and your Soul Sing. I could only wish that some of these would be my Pottery, as I consider my work a celebration of the Eclectic, Colorful, and Passionate World we all live in, and a Joyful Salutation to the Artist in all of us.
Namaste.....
:) Kristin Love

▲ *♥*▲ ALL of my clay pieces are either wheel thrown, hand built, slipcast or press molded (using my own plaster molds) by ME or collaborative work with another Potter, Vicki Hamilton {and this is specified in the individual listings}. Each of my clay pieces is bisque fired first to cone 05 so that I may have a solid surface on which to do my paintings and recently I have become addicted to using stamped images/words on my work I look upon my clay pieces as a 3 dimensional, geometric canvas, therefore whatever design I draw in pencil on that piece is inspired by its form, and, actually, on numerous occasions I have built a piece with a particular painting in mind. It's a very wonderful and symbiotic relationship between 3D form and 2D image! In order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on my finished work I use 3 layers of under glazes when I paint and then, using a teeny, tiny little brush with about 2 bristles, I outline the design with black to really make the images POP!! Since I view each of my clay pieces as an individual work of art, I title almost all of them and sign and date them before finishing each piece and then firing it again to cone 06.

▲ *♥*▲ I NEVER use decals, stencils or any other prefabricated images, insuring the individuality of each piece and because each is unique, my prices reflect the time I give to each not necessarily the size of the clay art.

I hope this short "tutorial" has helped you to understand the creative processes I use to bring each of my pieces to life and to this little corner of the Etsy universe. Please, take your time and browse, and if you have an idea in mind and do not see it here, feel free to contact me about creating custom work for you!

*♥*PHOTOS! And just a quick note about what may seem to be a difference in colors in the various photos for each piece: Photographing high glaze ceramics is tricky, at best, and I try to achieve the "truest" color by not using a flash whenever possible. Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to "document" the detail in one of my paintings is through using a flash, which ultimately "changes" the colors and usually adds a bright "hot-spot" or two on the piece, hence the discrepancy you will notice in some of the photos depicting the same piece of artwork.

▲ ▲ ▲*♥*A Note on My Environmental Footprint!*♥*▲ ▲ ▲
I am committed to making pottery that is both beautiful and durable, designed for many years of joyful service and smiles, and to this end, I make environmentally friendly choices whenever possible, and produce my pottery with generations of sustainability in mind.
As I mentioned in my Shop Announcement, I use a kiln that is powered by "100% RENEWABLE WIND Energy". If you would like more information on what that means please do not hesitate to contact me.
I also use local stoneware and paper clays for my pieces, and when copper wire is used for hanging, it is salvaged from my husband's construction sites.
I'm also a "Green" Shipper, please see my Shipping Policies for more information.
I believe that together, by buying Handmade and making conscious choices about our impact on this planet, we can all make a difference!! *♥*

Thank You for stopping by and taking a peek in my Shop!
Come and visit often!!
:) Kristin

Payment
*♥* I accept Credit Cards through Etsy's Direct Checkout, Paypal, Personal Checks and Money Orders. Your purchases will not be shipped until payment is received in full. If for some reason you need to cancel your order, PLEASE contact me so that I may re-list it for someone else to enjoy.

*♥* PLEASE NOTE: Sales TAX of 9.5% will be collected for shipments to Washington State, it's the Law and as much as I don't want to, I must! It is only applied to the Purchase Price of the Pottery, {not the Shipping...YAY!!}, and Thank You in advance for your understanding. :)

*♥* Your order will ship within 1-4 Business Days of receiving payment unless this is a Custom Listing in which case it Ships when it is completed. If you are paying with a Personal Check, your Order will Ship after your Check clears my Bank Account and please be aware this may take up to 5 Business Days after I receive the Check.

*♥* PLEASE NOTE: INTERNATIONAL Customers are responsible for any and all Duties, Tariffs, Taxes and Customs Fees that may be incurred. Please be aware of this before Purchasing as it's not my responsibility and I am not liable for paying for them.

*♥* COUPON NOTE!!** If you are using a Coupon Code to purchase Pottery in my Shop it is only Valid if another Discount has not already been given first. What does this mean? Here's an Example: If you are asking me for a Custom Order and I give you a Price and in that Price is an already "built in Discount" on the Pottery {don't worry, I'll tell you when I give you $$ off!} then a Coupon Code cannot also be applied to the same Order, thus giving you a "Double Discount". Sorry, but a girl's gotta make a livin' and please feel free to Message me with any Questions you might have about this'!! :-)

*♥* I GLADLY Refund Shipping Overages....YAY!!! If there are any significant shipping overages I will REFUND your Paypal or Credit Card account after the piece has shipped. If you have payed via Check or Money Order, I will include a refund Check with your order. Etsy does not provide us with a Shipping Calculator or "Zones" for Shipping in the United States so, for example, when Shipping in the US I must always use the most expensive destination (like Florida!) for my Shipping Costs. Thank You for your understanding and please contact me with any Questions you may have about this or a Quote on shipping before you purchase a piece.

•´♥¸. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING INSURANCE is now available through Etsy for a very AFFORDABLE RATE!! If you live outside of the United States and would like me to Insure your package, you need to contact me so that I may inquire about rates and get back to you.
Thank you for buying HandMade!!
:)
Shipping
SHIPPING Heavy Pottery is a BIG Bummer and believe me when I say it's not just you, I'm not psyched about how expensive it is either. The 3 choices: UPS, FedEx & USPS, well, none of them are cheap, but after Shipping over 1500 Packages, I chose USPS as the Safest and Most Reliable one. Here is more Information on my Shipping Policies:

▲ *♥*▲ I am a Pro-Active "GREEN" Shipper!! ▲*♥*
This means that I use CLEAN Recycled, Up-Cycled, and Biodegradable Products in my packaging and shipping materials as much as possible, but be assured that this will not compromise the safety of sending your purchases, and we are both leaving less of an Environmental Footprint.....YAY!! Please recycle or reuse the packaging your order arrives in, I Thank You and Mama Earth REALLY Thanks You!! :)

▲ *♥*▲ I ship all DOMESTIC Address purchases through USPS: either Parcel Post, First Class or 2-3 Day Priority Mail so that you receive your purchase as soon as possible! PLEASE NOTE: Insurance is NOT included on your Order unless it is being Shipped PRIORITY MAIL. If you want to Insure your Order via First Class or Parcel Post, please contact me and I will adjust the Shipping for your Pottery accordingly. Thank You!!

♥*▲♥* ALL INTERNATIONAL Orders are shipped USPS First Class Airmail (unless you UPGrade by asking and paying for Priority Mail!), and usually arrives within 10-14 Business days. :)

•´♥¸ INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Please be aware any Customs Fees, Taxes, Tariffs, Duties, etc. that may be incurred are the Buyer's {{YOUR}} responsibility and I will not Refund items refused because of unwillingness to pay Customs Fees. Also, please reminder that First Class International does not have a Tracking feature once the package leaves the United States. If your parcel has not arrived please contact your local Post Office and/or Customs Office and provide them with the US Declaration Number that was included in the Shipping Notification. In my experience most packages are unclaimed at the Customs Office.

*♥*Your order will ship within 1-4 Business Days of receiving payment.

~*▲*~ I do NOT include Invoices inside your Package - the Earth and the Trees
Thank us both for that. Your Receipt is always available under "Purchases" in your Account, upper left corner of your Page. I DO include basic Care Instructions for your pottery if it warrants such. :)

•´♥¸. I pack my Ceramic pieces VERY CAREFULLY {{with tons of LOVE!}} but as an experienced "shipper" of my work I have realized that I have no control over how my package is handled after it leaves my hands and there are times that they are not handled with care by others. I INSURE all of my DOMESTIC SHIPPING orders that are shipped PRIORITY MAIL and I also also Ship using Delivery Confirmation in order to better protect both YOU, the buyer, and myself, as you have bought a work of Art and have put forth your hard earned money for it so I want us both to be covered in case the "worst" happens. If you would like your First Class or Parcel Post Package Insured, please contact me and I will adjust the Shipping Price accordingly.

•´♥¸. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING INSURANCE is now available through Etsy for a very AFFORDABLE RATE!! If you live outside of the United States and would like me to Insure your package, you need to contact me so that I may inquire about rates and get back to you.

•´♥¸*I hope that my Customer Service has Delighted you and not disappointed you, but if you have a problem with your order please message me here:
https://www.etsy.com/conversations/new?to_username=LoveArtWorks
or email me at:
kristinlove [!at] comcast.net
and mark your email SHIPPING URGENT. I will do whatever is humanly possible to make things right as your Satisfaction and Happiness is really important to me.

*▲* In the Horrendous Case that something does happen during shipment despite my Super Careful Packing {{Remember: I have NO control over the Package once it goes to the USPS!!}} and the Package has been Insured then I will remake the Piece with the Insurance Payment if you want. Insurance does NOT cover the Shipping so if you want the piece to be remade, you will be responsible for the Shipping cost.

▲ *♥*▲ If there are any significant shipping overages ($1.50 or more) I will REFUND your Paypal or Credit Card account after the piece has shipped. If you have payed via Check or Money Order, I will include a refund Check with your order.
Refunds and Exchanges
*♥*“I’ve learned that people will forget what you say, they’ll forget what you do, but they will never forget how you make them feel.” Maya Angelou*♥*
:)

▲ *♥*▲As I mentioned in my shipping policies, I insure every Domestic package over $60 that I send. If the artwork arrives cracked or broken and has been Insured, you would have to photograph the piece and then YOU make a claim with the shipper, have your money refunded, and then if you would like, I will "recreate", as close as possible, the piece of artwork that you had purchased. If the piece has not been insured, then I am willing to discount the cost of recreating another piece for you. It would be the Buyers {Your} responsibility to pay for the shipping of the new piece in either case.

▲ *♥*▲INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Insurance is now available through Etsy for a very AFFORDABLE RATE!! BUT>>> I do not insure the pottery unless specified by the buyer, so PLEASE contact me if you would like Insurance for your Pottery. If something does happen to your order and you chose not to insure it, then I will replace the piece/s (which means I will have to actually make them again) and charge you a nominal fee and postage will be your responsibility. This may seem "unfair" but it is your choice whether to insure your artwork or not and I am willing to meet you half way by reducing my price on my artwork to help if something happens in shipping.

▲ *♥*▲* It is my Ultimate Goal to provide you with a Super Positive Shopping Experience and Beautiful Handmade Pottery that you Love and Cherish for a long, long time. If you are not satisfied, for any reason, please contact me immediately and I will do my best to create a positive outcome and make it right.... my goal is great customer service and happy art all around.

▲ *♥*▲You may return a piece for ANY reason, {except Custom Orders, please see next Section} but you MUST return it packed as carefully as I did when I sent it to you. Returns must be mailed back to me INSURED and at the Buyers expense within 7 days of receipt and the PURCHASE PRICE will be refunded upon my receipt of the pottery unharmed. I regret that I CANNOT refund Shipping Charges.▲ *♥*▲

▲ *♥*▲There are NO Refunds or Exchanges on Custom Orders and payments will be made as agreed upon in the listings and/or messages and I am more than willing to work with you so you are completely satisfied with your Order. Thank You.

▲ *♥*▲Here are a few of my policies concerning Custom Orders:
1. Depending on what it is you are having me create the time will vary from 3 to 6 weeks, not including Shipping time.

2. A Deposit of Half Down (balance and shipping to be paid at time of completion of your piece) OR a payment of the Full cost of the order is MANDATORY before I will begin working on your piece.

3. PROOFING: If you are requesting artwork or pottery that is using a Quote, Words, Names, and/or Dates, PLEASE double check your spelling and punctuation. I will "copy" exactly what you send me and then message you back with a "ReCap Proof" which YOU must read thoroughly and approve. I am not a Typist or a Proofreader, I am human and therefore make mistakes despite all the caution I use, so PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY! Have your friend read it. Then ask your neighbor, or your mailman, because ALL misspellings, etc will be your responsibility and are NOT changeable due to the Nature of Pottery and I will have to charge you to re-do the order and I hate doing that.
I cannot STRESS this enough, and I repeat, after YOUR final approval, I am not liable or responsible for any discrepancies or spelling errors. If You have approved the "ReCap Proof", any Financial Responsibility to recreate the work will fall on the Customer, {YOU}, not me. Thank You for your understanding about this.

4. PLEASE do not ask me to use COPYRIGHTED Images and/or Logos in Custom work, it is Illegal to do this and I will refuse.

5. There are NO Refunds or Exchanges on Custom Orders, payments will be made as agreed upon in the listings and/or messages and I am more than willing to work with you so you are completely satisfied with your Order, you just need to tell me what you want. Thank You.
:)

TRADING...Yes, I am open to Trades, but I do not trade for "Custom Work"! It depends on what my Show schedule is and the time of year and my inventory, please contact me and we'll see what's what! :)
