Announcement Welcome to loveFibre. I'm Fiona Dix, an artist maker working on the Isle of Tiree, in the Hebrides, Scotland. I weave, spin, felt and stitch, making wearable art, wall art, and small things to treasure. All my work is handmade at my island home. The warmth of wool and the lustre of silk, the play of colour, the rhythms of the day and the enchantments of cloth - these are the elements that inspire me to create.

Really beautiful felt bowl. Colours remind me of the Heather blossoms in Scotland. Bowl came beautifully packaged too!

Delighted with this brooch! A perfect size, lovely colours - it will be worn a lot. Highly recommended shop with a very friendly, helpful seller. Many thanks.
The interplay of fibre and cloth, the borderlands between art and craft
I work primarily with textile materials, exploring the interplay of fibre and cloth, colours, textures, the significance of garments, mending and joining, what can be included, how it holds together, the beautiful potential of mistakes, flaws, uncertainty.
Now that I live on Tiree, a tiny, beautiful island in the Inner Hebrides, I find the colours around me appearing in all my work. I’m especially interested in using local fleece and outworn clothing with conventionally precious fibres like silk. I spin, weave, make felt, knit and stitch, sometimes in combination. I enjoy dyeing, printing and resist techniques. Some of my work is fragmentary. I take photographs, occasionally sketch, more often work from a starting point of words, or a fleeting idea, expressing it directly through working with fabrics, yarns and fibres.
Learning to use a spinning wheel led to a weaving loom, then more... I am lucky to have a Japanese Saori floor loom, designed for playful weaving. I use two spinning wheels, Cicely and Roslyn, and a large table in the kitchen is where I make felt and practise surface design. A table in my little office/studio holds the sewing machine and embellisher and sometimes a table loom. There aren't many places in our home where something textile related isn't either happening or waiting to happen.
Textile processes are slow, and endlessly captivating. I hope to be able to share something of their magic with you through the work I make: wearable art, wall art, and small things to treasure.
Owner, Maker, Artist
I live on the beautiful Isle of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, Scotland. Surrounded by sheep, I've started including local wool in some of my work. I'm exploring the ways in which fibre and fabric can connect with and complement each other.

Please be aware that I live on an island! The post from here is almost always as fast as on the mainland, but all mail goes on the daily plane and very occasionally the plane can't land. For this reason I don't offer a guaranteed next day delivery, but I can arrange tracked and signed for services at an additional cost, please contact me before paying.
I try to use recycled outer packaging unless requested otherwise.

Potential buyers in Australia - much of my work contains wool and items are likely to be quarantined on arrival in Australia. Please contact me before ordering.
