Wear me with a smile please...
Each Harthorne necklace is made by hand from scratch with loving care.
Careful attention and detailing goes into each piece. From cutting, drilling and hand sanding all the wood pieces through to sewing and construction of each Harthorne necklace.
With a professional background as a fashion designer, Harthorne was started from my desire to create a thoughtful design brand with an emphasis on quality, colour and pattern with a burst of friendly Australian optimism.
I wanted to design jewellery that was clean and simple in its aesthetic, colourful and fun to wear, affordable to buy and took an new approach - an alternative to silver, gold, resin and polymer clay.
When my brother starting taking wood working classes, I immediately took an interest in all things wood and with the help of a few 'bloke' machines, I developed an idea that incorporated the natural and warming quality of wood into my designs, and with that union, my wood and fabric necklaces came to be.
An advocate of 'slow' fashion, I want to design lovable products that will last for more than one season, are made to a high standard using quality supplies and maintain ethical practices.
