About

Raisin' Up Art For Social Justice | Harvested From Tucson, AZ & Oakland, CA

This shop was born out of the craft time of Matice Moore and Shreya Shah. Our first item, the Black Lives Matter onesie, was inspired by Shreya's desire to make a gift for her nephew. Matice was immediately intrigued and set out to create the design. Folks saw the art through Shreya's social media and asked for us to create a t-shirt for organizers. The project soon morphed into a fundraiser through which we were able to give money to a variety of groups working in the struggle for Black Liberation. Shreya left the project a few months after its initiation. Her work can be viewed at: http://saltwatertraining.org

The Real Feminist project was a similar endeavor. Monica and Matice were hanging out during a craft party at the home of a mutual friend. Monica saw Matice's art and asked if they could make something that said "Real Feminists Support Trans Women and Sex Workers." A few months later that initiative has helped support Monica as she continues her journey and social justice work.

Linocut printmaking is a process through which finding the light helps one make sense of the dark. We look forward to creating more art to support local movements and challenge oppressive views of identity and culture.
