About

Following My Dreams

When asked what I wanted to be as a child, I always responded with "teacher or artist." Now, as an adult I'm excited to fulfill both dreams, working as a full time school teacher and freelance calligrapher.

Some of my earliest memories were of playing school and perfecting my cursive writing. Years of constant doodling in class drew me toward tinkering with letters and, eventually, the art of calligraphy in junior high school. I still remember picking up my very first nib and the joy I felt as the ink hit the paper!

As an adult, I rediscovered this lost art while planning my own wedding and my passion for calligraphy was reignited! I decided to open my own home studio in 2012 and feel grateful for the local opportunities that have come my way, from working with brides to teaching calligraphy classes and hand-lettering wine labels at corporate events.

I write seating charts on mirrors, design custom stamps and artwork, address envelopes, create chalkboard art, logos and much more. I thank each and every one of my past, present, and future clients for allowing me the opportunity to beautify their life's most precious moments!

A little bit about me...I am detail-oriented (to a fault if you ask anyone close to me!), my nails are perpetually ink stained, and I'm completely obsessed with my Pug, Mabel. Because of my husband's encouragement and support, Lovely Scribe was born.

Hello and welcome to Lovely Scribe Calligraphy. I can't wait to add to the beauty of your special day, whether it be a wedding, graduation, bridal/ baby shower or any other affair!

My goal is to provide you with beautiful calligraphy for whatever your need may be and for a fair price. Since I'm often busy writing or teaching, please allow a day or so for responses to emails and convos :)

I offer custom calligraphed envelope addressing, place cards, escort cards and other 'day of' material. I love new projects, so if you want little tags for favors or tiny flags for drink stirrers just run it by me!

Please send 15-20% extra envelopes, cards, materials, etc. I usually will keep these just in case I need them for last minute additions, etc. If you prefer I send them back with the completed order just let me know. :)

Turn around time depends on the size and complexity of the job requested and begins from the date that the materials ( i.e. envelopes, place cards), payment, guest list/ info. and signed contract arrive to me. Please let me know the specifics (date items are needed by, size of job) at the outset so we can discuss timing.

I have been known to complete rush jobs before and will try to accommodate you. If you need a job completed in less than 3 weeks, a rush fee can be agreed upon at the outset (size and complexity of the job will dictate the terms) so that it's fair for us both.

Looking forward to working with you!
Leigh

Returns and exchanges
Due to the nature of custom calligraphed work, I cannot offer you a refund on completed work. Each written letter is a work of art and that's part of the beauty of custom writing as opposed to printed letters :). I promise to scribe all work exactly as it is sent to me. I rarely make errors, but I am human. If this should occur please just let me know before leaving feedback so I can remedy the situation immediately at no cost to you! I take my work seriously and I want you, as the customer, to be happy.

Please note that I will gladly fix mistakes/ typos made on your part, but will need to charge the original price and shipping fees.

Thank you so much for understanding. :)
Payment
LovelyScribe accepts Paypal, Credt Cards and Etsy Gift Cards.I will set up a reserved listing for you once we have figured out details and size of the requested order. A 50% deposit will reserve a spot in my schedule. Once I receive your deposit, I will send you a detailied client agreement form to walk you through the next steps. Please note that your final payment must be received in full before I can mail the completed work back to you.

If you are a NEW JERSEY resident, your order will be taxed upon purchase.

I ask that you please send your items to me as soon as you can so that I can begin writing! Some times certain papers do not cooperate well with inks and a little behind the scenes tinkering on my part must take place (mixing inks, spraying fixatives, etc)....so the sooner I can test out your paper the better! If for some reason the paper won't hold ink (hasn't happened yet, thank goodness!) a complete refund will be issued and your materials (minus tested paper) will be returned.

Thank you so much for understanding!
Shipping
The buyer pays for shipping fees. All orders will be shipped through USPS Priority Mail flat rate, which offers 2-3 day shipping time. Once your package is mailed I will provide you with a tracking number. Please let me know if you prefer another method or would like to purchase insurance, which I highly recommend. I cannot be responsible if something should get lost or damaged in the mail.
Shipping costs depend on the size and weight of your project.
Additional policies and FAQs
