All of this - my blog, this shop, my passion for felt - dates back to this random assignment in 2010 for a class called Physical Geography. My professor (yes, this was a college class) told us to make "something creative" that tied into a topic we studied. Some people made PowerPoint slides; one girl made a cake. I decided to craft a garland of the solar system made entirely out of felt.

I was so proud of the finish product that I wanted to show it off. So I created a blog titled For the Love of Felt (an ode to the felt solar system mixed with an inside joke).

My blog became my showroom, displaying the vast array of projects I completed. And every once and awhile I would get that fun question, "Could I pay you to make me one?"

I initially created my Etsy shop to be an extension of my blog. At the end of each post, I would offer a link to go ahead and buy my finished product. Because of course you could make something yourself, but the question is, do you really have the time to do so.

Then one day, I made a set of felt food for my nephew. He was 1-year-old at the time, and my sister-in-law had told me all about how he loved to "cook." They had bought him a bunch of felt fruits and vegetables at Ikea, but I wanted to provide him with some meals!

I never in a million years would imagine that my blog post about felt food would gain as much attention as it did. Soon I had a handful of people asking me to make felt food for them, and quickly I realized that this could be my niche. My Etsy shop was reborn.

When I think back on my childhood, I realize that so many people encouraged me to embrace my imagination. My hope is the items I sell here can be toys that do the same for your child - spur on their creativity and maybe even kick start a life-long love for cooking!
