About

My passion for the Thirties

It was born almost unconsciously from the stories of my grandmother when I was still a child.
I imagined her to the milliner while tried on delicious hats adorned with pins, feathers and veils. Or while she chose a silk for a dress or a lace for a blouse that the seamstress would have sewed for her.
She embellished her clothes with very particular trimmings of beads and sequins that her cousins, italians emigrated to New York and holders of a workshop of embroidery, shipped to her.
All this would have made her the elegant lady that accompanied my grandfather to the medical congresses.

When my grandmother opened the "treasure box" which contained what had preserved of those years, my eyes lit up and, touching those objects, I lived the strange emotion to do a little travel into the past.

From my mother I learned to sew using her Singer since I was a child.
She is a doctor, but with a passion for sewing.
She taught me that when you sew, you should never be in a hurry, but you must have method, precision and a lot of patience.

The following I did alone, cultivating with my studies what was already inside me.

I've studied to become a fashion designer in Milan, in a reputed fashion school, the Marangoni Institute.
Were the eighties and in that period, in the capital of Italian fashion, you breathed an air of great ferment, which sent you enthusiasm and creative energy.

In Bari, my city overlooking the sea of the South, I have enrolled at the University, in the course in "Science and technology of fashion", graduating with full marks and honours with a dissertation on the history of costume.

Then I followed a workshop in Florence by Roberto Capucci about the techniques of architectonic sartorial construction.
Thanks to this last experience I have chosen to stop working as a fashion designer for clothing companies and to dedicate myself full-time to handicrafts.

I rediscovered a dimension more consonant with my nature, where I could enjoy the taste of seeing the birth of an object in my hands, dedicating to it all the time necessary and in some way loving it. With my shop on Etsy now I have my window on the world and a way to share what I create with love.

In every object you see in my shop there is inside a part of me and all that I recounted you.
Thanks a lot for giving me your attention!
