I bought an "I Wanna Be Your Dog" card. So romantic! It's going straight on the wall next to my bed with some washi tape.

About

I collect beach rocks and cover them in crochet.

I learned to crochet in the fall of 2011, taught by one of my coworkers at Etsy, shortly before moving to Southern California.

I fumbled my way through cowls and hats, potholders and doggie sweaters, left behind a trail of botched experiments and ill-considered yarn choices, but managed to make this crochet thing work.

In the following spring I started collecting rocks at the beaches of San Diego, mesmerized by their beautiful colors and wonderfully smooth shapes. As I watched my collection grow dangerously heavy, I knew I would have to use my rocks for something. After a few days of reading, browsing, and experimenting with threads and patterns, I successfully crocheted my first beach rock.

Thus was born my new Etsy shop. The name, Lovina (pronounced lo-VEE-nah), comes from a beach I visited many years ago in the island of Bali.

All rocks were collected by me from the shores of the Pacific in San Diego, in accordance to the local Department of Parks and Recreation's guidelines.

I crochet in Brooklyn, where I now live.

Crocheted rocks: HANDLING AND CARE INFORMATION
Crocheted rocks may look sturdy, but they are delicate art pieces. Please be mindful of the following:

> Frequent handling may cause the work to be come fuzzy or loose
> Dropping a crocheted rock or letting it bump against other objects may result in the thread breaking and the work becoming undone.

Please handle with care!

> Lightly dusting your rock occasionally is the best way to care for it. I do not recommend washing your crocheted rock, but if you do, use cold water and neutral soap, no scrubbing.
> Attention: getting your crocheted rock wet, from washing or otherwise, may alter the crochet work. If that happens, send me a photo and quick explanation and I will work with you to get it fixed!
