Small Metals & Fine Art

Please visit my shop: http://www.LowCountryStudios.Etsy.com
Welcome to Low Country Studios. I opened and incorporated this studio in 2004 when I adopted Charleston as my home.

My mission as a fine, and small metals, artist is to produce works in an eco-friendly manner (I employ ethical metal smithing practices), works that reflect my environment, and works that are truly handcrafted.

There is a peaceful, zen-like energy that melds its way into handmade art. You can feel it when you hold a work that is completely handcrafted without the assistance of lathes, grinders, or other machinery. To me, a handmade work is a reflection of humanity - its imperfections, diversity, unique beauty, and time in being birthed.

As an artist I am intrigued with: the attitude of metals - their resistance and willingness to change; the qualities of light and blocked light in fine art, and; the process of pulling prints. All of my work is produced by me. My mother was an artist, and I studied drawing formally in college. Drawing is the foundation for all of my artisan and fine art work. I have a BA and an MA.

Please look for me the next time you visit Charleston. You can find me at the Charleston City Market. My work is also available at Anne Bonney's in the Avondale West Ashley area. To find me in other markets, festivals and shops you can follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you for taking an interest in my work.

I create in a smoke free environment that is cat friendly. Wholesale or consignment conversations are welcome. Please contact me for more information. Because of my work with art shows and art fairs, I rarely have time to do custom work.
