It's absolutely perfect. It adds a lot of character to my newly renovated kitchen and I've displayed my own glass insulators in a nearby window, which makes it look like it truly belongs. I ended up putting in a lower wattage bulb than the one that came with it (which was a nice bonus) and it shows off the character of the insulator even more. So glad I found this shop!

About

Rethinking the utilitarian purpose of objects to create art

It all started with three glass insulators at a local antique store. That got the electrons firing and I needed to find a way to illuminate and bring these unintended works of art back to life. A crate of insulators later, I finally was able to figure out my methods. Every time I see one of these wonderful 100+ year old glass insulators illuminated I think of the hardy hands that created each one out of molten glass.

I am constantly searching for new ideas, pushing the limits on what was once considered utilitarian and reconfigured can be considered a focal point in your home. New items are always appearing in my shop, from glass insulators to automotive to old heater and fans, stick around and you'll eventually find something that you can't live without.

I have been pulling apart electronics and anything I could get my hands on from an early age, much to the chagrin of my other family members. I just have to know how it works. Electrical engineer by trade, too many projects by habit.
