Chickens, Roosters and Some Luck

My “Lucky The Rooster” Etsy shop is a fun outlet for my design work, I love drawing all the different styles of roosters and chickens, plus making good luck charms is fun and who doesn't need a little extra luck? I make and design everything right here in my studio in rural Oregon with my chickens and rooster wandering around free-range just outside the door.

I am an artist and designer who happens to be crazy about chickens and especially crazy about roosters. Being a visual person I supposed I was initially attracted to roosters by their beautiful plumage. About 15 years ago I got my first few chickens and a very handsome rooster and I quickly became enamored of the rooster’s almost single minded drive to protect the chickens. When he would find a delicious morsel to eat, he would not eat it himself, he would call over the chickens and give it to them.

I am fascinated by all the symbolism that revolves around roosters and chickens. The rooster is a symbol of luck, moral fortitude, fortune, protection, prosperity and health in many cultures. Chickens are a symbol of patience, determination, pride, courage, discovery and prosperity.
