Warm, soft, thick fabric, well sewn, arrived promptly in a wonderfully sweet package, perfectly described size-wise for my wee little person. (12 month ordered for a 12.5 month old, based on inseam, leg circumference and waist) (we run short in this family). Thank You!

About

Lucy's Place for baby and childrenswear

Welcome!

My name is Catherine and I work from my home-based sewing studio in central Auckland, New Zealand.

I design and sew clothing and accessories for babies, toddlers and children, primarily in small numbers. Everything is created with utmost care, creativity and attention to detail.

I opened my shop, Lucy's Place, in late 2007 offering childrenswear, with the occasional collection of womenswear. As of mid 2015 I now have a dedicated shop for my womenswear collection, which you may visit here: www.etsy.com/shop/valerine

My clothing is a mix of modern, classic and quirky. I particularly love the innocence and nostalgia of vintage childrenswear, and the scandinavian style. All my designs are created to be totally and utterly wearable, and to have the longevity in them to be kept and handed down.

I enjoy working with fine cottons, silks, wool and Liberty of London fabrics. Occasionally I will use special deadstock vintage fabrics.

I have to mention my two special girls (6 and 9) who are forever a source of inspiration, and who tirelessly model my garments (albeit for lollipops and small coins). As my 9 year grows I plan to explore teen fashion.

As well as sewing for my shop, I sew cat and dog costumes for my girls (and all other weird and wonderful requests).

Thanks ever so much for stopping by!

Welcome to Lucy's Place! I'm Catherine, mother to two girls. I design and sew clothing for women and children (my daughters provide the inspiration, and they are my fit and wear models for the children's range).

Every garment in the shop is designed and constructed by me, from the initial sketch, the pattern drafting, and finally the finished garment.

I hand select all my fabrics, often using designer end-bolts. The quality of fabrics I use for my childrenswear range is of the same high quality as my womenswear range.

When designing clothes, the comfort and wearability of a garment is as important as the look itself.

Thankyou so much for visiting,
Catherine

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Once payment is received I will add your order to the production schedule. If an item is ready to ship it will be sent within 2 days of clearance of payment.

Made to order items generally have a timeframe of their own which will be specific to each listing. For most items this will be 2-3 working days, but please check the listing details.
Shipping
All orders are shipped via New Zealand Post International Airmail, with arrival times anywhere from approximately 4-10 business days depending on where you live in the world.

I ship to your Etsy address. If you would like your order shipped to another address please inform me at the time of order, or immediately thereafter.

Orders up to a total of NZ$250, including shipping, are insured by our postal system. Wonderful!

If you have a parcel totalling more than $250, additional insurance may be purchased for NZ$10. This is New Zealand Post's flat rate cost.

All costs on arrival such as local taxes are the buyer's responsibility.

I do not mark items as 'gifts', and mark the true value of your order on customs documentation so in the very unlikely event of loss you will be refunded for the full value of your order.

Since opening in 2007, I have sent well over 550 parcels and every single one has arrived safely. Should anything occur along the way I will do everything I can to help.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will happily offer you a refund, exchange or return, less shipping costs, on return of your item(s) so long as the item is in the same unused condition as when it was purchased. In the event of a return please contact me within two weeks of receiving your garment(s).

For re-sale reasons I will not be able to accept garments made to a customer's measurements, so where possible please consider choosing a general size or consult with me about any special requirements. However I do want you to be thrilled with your purchase, so will always strive for a happy resolution.
