Lumi Studio

Sometimes you need a bit of rain to begin something new. Winter in Walpole, Western Australia was just what I needed to start my portrait series of local wildlife. Being constantly reminded by the wonderful nature around, there is no lack of inspiration. The detailed work has been drawn by building up layers using different forms of charcoal – vine, compressed and pencil. There is detail in fur, feathers, noses and paws, but in the end it’s all about the eyes. Each animal has their own character and story to tell. Hopefully they speak to you.
