Announcement   Welcome to Lune! I'm a fool for beads of any kind, a sucker for metal, a pushover for leather, and a glutton for fibers. And here is my little Etsy shop, because I had to find a way to pay for all that wonderful crap! (And as the jewelry piled up, selling it became the only viable option, because you can only give people so many gifts and then it just gets weird.)

(I am not currently accepting custom orders, or re-creating old designs to order. It's pretty much just One-of-a-Kind here right now, when time and energy permit.)

I spent a year making truly godawful jewelry for myself to wear, and then decided it was time to actually acquire some skills. So I spent another year learning off the Internet, and practicing. And then there was too much jewelry and I had to find a clever way to get rid of it. And that is how Lune was born. Ta-da!

Make yourself at home and look around! Drooling is permitted, and always appreciated.

What buyers have said:

"These are like little works of art. These art NOT your grandmother's earrings (nor your mother, nor your sister's.) These are the kind of earrings that total strangers stare at and then come up and ask where you bought them! The transaction was flawless, the seller responded kindly to a statement I left for her and the earrings arrived beautifully wrapped; it was like I was receiving a special present. I am in my training phase of making jewelry and I can only hope I am able to produce pieces even half as lovely these."

"Amazing earrings. The wire work is spectacular. The handmade copper bail is the work of a master. Keirsten's photos are always beautiful, but it's always such a treat to see her work in person. It never disappoints."

"Not enough good can be said about this lady and her wonderfully crafted beauties!! I felt very special when receiving and opening the shipment, sent in both a very attractive gift box with ribbons, and all bubble/tissue-wrapped and placed in another box. The beads are gorgeous as is the pendant with its wonderful hues! Buy with confidence; I bet your expectations will indeed be surpassed. This is from a repeat buyer. Thanks so much Keirsten!! :)"

"I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this jewelry. All my friends see me wearing it and say it is me! Each piece is unique and beautiful. Keirsten is delightful to do business with and is an excellent seller. Even her packaging is beautiful. Great attention to detail. When purchasing this jewelry, you will never be disappointed! :)"

"Very cool necklace. So unique and stylish. Love all the different materials you used in it. It is very striking. Thanks for a fabulous necklace and a perfect transaction. Quick delivery too. I couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you Thank you Thank you!"

"Awesome. Simply awesome. This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for, and even better than the photos....I have a brass cuff and it'll make for an amazing pairing of the two.....perhaps your beautiful bracelet is best by itself! YES! (I love it. LOVE it.) Thank you so much too for the speedy delivery too! L--"

"Absolutely stunning. I asked Keirsten to fashion a necklace like one I had seen on a television show. She did not disappoint!"

"The bracelet is beautiful in the picture, but stunning in person! The colors are beautiful and the bracelet fits perfectly and doesn't slip around."

I'm sending this beautiful piece to an amazing friend. Unbelievably talented an amazing job, extremely unusual but her talent as no bounds. She lost a pet, speeing to the animal ER and the poor young woman is heartbroken. I hope it helps her pain and I thank you!

About

When Creative Urges Find a Home. A Very, Very Small Home.

I've had vague creative urges all my life, and have toyed with virtually every medium. Most of my creative experiments have ended in frustration or boredom, and sometimes utter bewilderment (e.g., knitting and songwriting). About four years ago I turned my creativity to dressing myself, and discovered a dearth of unique, well-made jewelry in the semi-rural backwater where I live. I started making my own. Little did I know it would become an obsession--7 years and 4 months later (which is about 7 years, 3 months and 3 weeks longer than my typical creative obsessions last), I am still compulsively exploring new aesthetics, techniques and materials.

I'm a learner at heart, and the process of learning a new skill is what keeps me motivated. As soon as I feel I've mastered one skill, I move onto the next. I get bored if I use the same techniques for too long. What I didn't know when I started making jewelry is that there is a virtually unlimited world of techniques and skills to explore and master, which makes it a perfect medium for someone like me. I'm only limited by the hours in the day. Which is a pretty big limitation.

I work a day job which ties me up 50 hours a week, so I find myself making jewelry in strange places and at odd times. I work in my car, parked at the local park, working on metal components. (It's amazing what you can do with a board in your lap, a hammer and a bench block.) I've made jewelry in campgrounds, in empty offices at work, and in the driveway at home. We live in a tiny house (I measured it once, 25 ft x 25 ft) , so I have to be really resourceful with space, and find ways to make do with a minimal amount of equipment and tools. I think this has made me innovative. My "studio" consists of a thrift store chair and an IKEA side table (my primary work bench), a couple TV trays (my auxiliary work benches), a kitchen counter (my stationary work bench), a chest freezer (the top of which is my secondary stationary work bench) and a little step stool (my floor work bench). And my car, of course. Even my car is small (I drive a Yaris). My wonderful boyfriend is very tolerant of my messes and all my "works in progress." (I have to put the studio away when company comes over.)

Because of my day job, I can't take classes so I scour the Internet for instruction, and spend a lot of time experimenting on my own, and "reverse engineering" from techniques I see in other people's work. I love the puzzle of figuring out how to do something, and doing it with only the bare minimum of tools that I have.

I have a list as long as both of my arms of things I want to learn to do, and design ideas I want to try out. So I guess I'll be at this a while longer...

I fell into jewelry making over four years ago, when I simply couldn't find anything to wear. After a year of making stuff for myself, I liked it so much I decided to start making it for other people too! Learning the craft has become an obsession.
