About LUVintage

On Etsy since 2008

It all started with a purple marble.

I remember the 1st time I entered an antique store. I was in the 3rd grade and my sister and I had just finished our weekend ritual of watching a movie at the Saturday matinee. I have no recollection of the movie we saw, but I do remember the visit to the antique shop that followed.

The shop was just next door to the theater. We tiptoed in after the movie, curious and not really knowing what we would find inside. In wonder, I pressed my nose against the glass case admiring all of the beautiful, sparkly treasures. I was smitten! I searched for something my third grade budget could afford. After a thorough search, I finally saw it. It was beautiful! It was a marble--a lavender slag amethyst swirl. It was chipped in several places but in my eyes it was a precious jewel and I happily parted with the rest of my allowance to make the purchase.

So started LUVintage. Not immediately of course, but the seed was planted and over the years I added to my collection of marbles and moved on to other treasures that caught my eye. I would sometimes buy an item that I really didn't need just because it was so unusual or beautiful. I loved researching to learn more about the items I found and that of course led to even more purchases! Like many collectors, I ended up with so many beautiful treasures that my husband began to worry about my pack rat behavior. I had to figure out how I could continue to collect and enjoy the treasures that seemed to be everywhere I looked!

It was family that led me to the solution to the predicament I found myself in. My niece had an ETSY shop and of course I had to check out this new venue. Again I felt like that third grade child tiptoeing into the antique store. Everywhere I looked, I saw beautiful vintage and antique items in addition to amazing handmade treasures. But this time I saw myself being the vendor. I could do this!

Today my sister and I still shop for treasures, but now I get to enjoy them for a while, then pass them on to others. (Except for the purple marble of course--that stays with me).

Welcome to LUVintage! LUVintage offers vintage jewelry, hand crafted jewelry, and unique vintage and antique items. When you buy from LUVintage, you give new life to old treasures. Check in often--I add new items regularly. Thank you for your interest.

Just a quick word about the items I sell. I love vintage everything (especially vintage jewelry) so that is mostly what you'll find in my shop. However I am not an expert on antique or vintage treasures--I just love them. I try to research my items so I can give a little background information if I find it, but many times I'm not able to find anything about an item. So please forgive me if I don't have answers for all of your questions--just know I will always try to give interesting details and information when I can find it and forgive my occasional errors. Feel free to ask any question you may have about an item and I will do my best to find an answer for you. I love communicating with all of you so please convo me anytime.

Returns and exchange details
I describe my items carefully, provide accurate measurements, and provide lots of photos so hopefully, there will be very few requests for refunds. However, depending on the circumstances I may refund the price of the item. However, the customer must contact me before returning the item so I know what the issue is. The customer will receive the refund after the item has been returned to me provided that the item is in the same condition as it was when I shipped it originally. If shipping on the item was free, I will deduct my shipping and packaging costs from the refund. The buyer is responsible for the cost of the return shipping. No refunds after 14 days.
Payment
I accept Direct Checkout through ETSY and PayPal. No checks or money orders.
Shipping
I usually ship via USPS within 1-5 business days. If I am out of town, it may take a bit longer, but it will be mentioned in my message to the buyer if this is the case.

I am also happy to ship internationally. (Please contact me for rates if it is not listed--it's usually about $16.00 for small jewelry type items plus $1.00 for each additional item in the same shipment and more for larger items)

VAT, Customs, delivery fees, or any taxes are NOT included in the price. Every country has different custom or import fees and I am not familiar with these fees. The buyer is responsible for understanding the fees that their country charges. Sometimes I have been asked to call the item a gift so the buyer doesn't have to pay the customs fees. Unfortunately I cannot say an item is a gift because it puts me at risk for fines.

I can not predict how long it will take for an item to get to its destination--international shipping is sometimes unpredictable. I ship from the US and it once took an order over 3 months to get to the UK! Fortunately that is a rare occurrence--I have shipped hundreds of international orders and only once did it take that long. Please be aware of this when you order because once the package is at the post office, I have no way of speeding up the delivery.

Just so you know, I do recycle clean shipping materials, so a package may have tape over codes or writing.
Additional policies and FAQs
Most vintage items have been worn or loved by others and so are not perfect. Please use the zoom feature to closely inspect items--it really gives you a good look at the wear under magnification. Occasionally stones in older jewelry loosen during shipment if they are not prong set--especially when there are fluctuations in temperature. I have no control over this. Please glue them back in if this happens to you. :)

I try my best to give accurate information about all items regarding condition and also give you any information that I have found in my research.

As noted in my shipping policy, I do recycle shipping materials so I might tape over writing or codes on boxes or bubble envelopes. Packages are not always pretty, but always carefully packed.
